The christchurch city council wants to ban people "cruising" in their cars. Help me stop this by filling out the following form and say "I do not want the cruising ban to become law". Please fill out the form because it only takes less than 1 minute:
http://www1.ccc.govt.nz/HaveYourSay/CruisingBylaw/

Even if your not from christchurch please fill out the form

Have you filled it out yet?

Think you'd just put "I do want the cruising ban to become law".

The sooner we can get these mindless cretins with their bumper thumper stereos off our streets, the better!

I know people effected by the mindless endless cruising .... They brought it on them selves so ban and crush I say.

+1.

Half of what I pick up on community patrol is usually boy-racer related.

lol so you're not going to be allowed to drive down the same street in the same hour? These are main roads, highways and busy city streets. Sounds like the people who move into apartments in the city and then complain about the traffic noise thing all over again. It's like the morons who move to the country and complain about sheep bleating and roosters; jerkoffs who move in next to the speedway and complain about car noise....

I'm not a "boy racer" or a "cruiser" but this sounds like a load of codswallop dreamed up by some stifled old hand-wringing farts to me. Sure if they are impeding traffic or exceeding the noise level but just driving around? pfft

Oooh no, those whippersnappers in their racing cars with their boom boxes and fandangled lights. Ban them, ban them!

It'll be something closer to "you'll not allowed to drive down the same street again (and again, and again, and again, and again) in the same hour".

Simply driving up and down a street won't get you pinged under this proposal

It is quite specific

Cruising is defined in the Land Transport Act 1998 as driving repeatedly in the same direction over the same section of a road in a motor vehicle in a manner that?
(a) draws attention to the power or sound of the engine of the motor vehicle being driven; or
(b )creates a convoy that?
(i)is formed otherwise than in trade; and
(ii)impedes traffic flow
