You can configure DNS individually per device, assuming device allows it, or at the router for the entire network. Most people seem to do it at the router. This has the advantage that you don't have to change individual devices separately. I prefer the flexibility of doing it per device because I also use a DNS switcher.

Ugh I hate change but this "sounds" intresting

At present I have a windows machine running xbmc through a netgear 360d? I think

Its still a bit "Heathkit" for my liking finding the addons working for awhile then stopping (bbc)

ANYWAY..

How much brain surgery is required to set this up ?

Is it a Kiwi "real easy bro!" translation Will take you the rest of the day and half the night.

or is it Plug and Play about 4 hours

your honesty is appreciated :)

Really easy to do it. Unotelly has lots of FAQs that are step-by-step and easy to follow.

Really easy to setup with their guides. The bit I struggle with is once you have access to channels in the USA, how do you get around some that have requirements to verify your "local" US cable/TV provider.

That is surprisingly easy. I just piggyback on my sister's account since she lives in the States. She is not a hacker, so she actually asked her provider for permission to do this and it was granted! And no, I cannot post the account details.

It does make me wonder, though, if a group of people could not open a legal account and share it. My sister pays $200 US a month, but that is for cable TV (hundreds of channels, maybe thousands), phone and broadband Internet. Who knows what is possible until you try?

My takeaway from this is that at least some providers aren't bothered by overseas sharing in itself, as this has no effect on their business, which is entirely within the USA. Of course they would be bothered if the content providers get wind of it and start making trouble.

An interesting thing happened when I renewed my yearly subscription.

I saw the option to add the promotion code 'geekzone' so gave it a try, then an error came up saying I have already used the code, which I had done last year.........fair enough. I then submitted again without the code and it accepted. All is good and I was instantly granted access again.

A few days later I happened to be checking my Credit Card statement and saw two debits to Unotelly. The pricing was approximately $20NZ different. I jumped on their website and sent a message and within a few hours was told that this needed to be attended to by a billing team Mon-Fri.........fair enough. 5 days later no reply. I replied again to them and this time no reply.

I PM the Unotelly representative here 5 days ago and the message has not been read.

Interestingly, I checked my Unotelly account and see I am now registered until 2017!

On the face of it, I am going to get the value of both transactions but it was not my intention to pay for 2 years of service so would really like to know why I got an error to say the geekzone was invalid yet it appears it was successful.

Anyone else tried a yearly subscription using geekzone code 2nd time around?

Cheers
Sam

I wanted to use the discount code as well. When I was checking the accounts, my subscription had auto renewed and the full amount was charged to my credit card.

i have emailed Unotelly and was told that someone will be in touch in 24 hours.

Waiting for 3 days. No communication received yet.

This happened to me in Feb, it was sorted and refunded in 5 days, from memory I created a support ticket via the website.
