saif: I wanted to use the discount code as well. When I was checking the accounts, my subscription had auto renewed and the full amount was charged to my credit card.

i have emailed Unotelly and was told that someone will be in touch in 24 hours.

Waiting for 3 days. No communication received yet.

I don't ever recall seeing any mention of my yearly subscription renewing which probably now explains why I have been charged twice.

This is day 10 and no reply.

riahon: An interesting thing happened when I renewed my yearly subscription.

I saw the option to add the promotion code 'geekzone' so gave it a try, then an error came up saying I have already used the code, which I had done last year.........fair enough. I then submitted again without the code and it accepted. All is good and I was instantly granted access again.

A few days later I happened to be checking my Credit Card statement and saw two debits to Unotelly. The pricing was approximately $20NZ different. I jumped on their website and sent a message and within a few hours was told that this needed to be attended to by a billing team Mon-Fri.........fair enough. 5 days later no reply. I replied again to them and this time no reply.

I PM the Unotelly representative here 5 days ago and the message has not been read.

Interestingly, I checked my Unotelly account and see I am now registered until 2017!

On the face of it, I am going to get the value of both transactions but it was not my intention to pay for 2 years of service so would really like to know why I got an error to say the geekzone was invalid yet it appears it was successful.

Anyone else tried a yearly subscription using geekzone code 2nd time around?

Cheers
Sam

So is it possible to use the code twice?

I keep getting told I can only use it once?

How can I stop my auto renew?

Hello mentalinc,

Unfortunately, the coupon can only be used once per user. I am posting some options we provide so that you can get some free UnoTelly months. Take a look if you are interested.

Let me know if you have any question.

I was annoyed with unotelly.

I paid the initial discounted rate and didn't want to continue my service as I hadn't used it in a while and after my current sub ended they charged my card multiple times, good thing there was nothing in it at the time but I made a query about it and then the third time they charged I got a very passive aggressive email from them threatening to do something to my account. I made another query and literally a few hours later they charged me for another three months at full price and with the nzd>USD rate ATM it was more than I wanted to ever pay for the service.

I'm glad i have it again as it comes good when I have time off work but was really annoyed at how they handled the process and won't be renewing for a third time around.

The issue stems from my fault for not reading and understanding the due.process but yeah.

At least the service works well. :-)))

Just had a very bad experience with unotelly.

I accidentally purchased the VPN service when I was trying to renew my DNS license (changing from yearly sub to monthly).

Asked their support to refund the VPN and change to dns.  1st day, I got an email saying they will pass it onto supervisor/manager/someone higher up.  Next day, nothing.... 9 days later with many more emails sent to them and still nothing.

Their support seems pretty slack, so sent them one last email to cancel my subscription completely and I will go with dns4me.

Unotelly service is great, their support needs work.

The recent posts about Unotelly subscription problems is a worry for me.
I was about to subscribe to Unotelly as i'm currently using globalmode (which expires at the end of August).
The problems seem to occur if you chose not to continue your subscription after the first year?
Any tips on how to prevent these problems? Is it possible to prevent autorenew?
Or
Any suggested alternatives?
DNS4me perhaps but im a bit concerned that the setup process with DNS4me is complicated compared with Unotelly

dns4me was just a dns change on my router, 2 sets of 4 groups of numbers.  exact same way as unblock-us and unotelly.

I moved to DNS4ME after my 12 months with Unotelly was up.

Didnt have any issues with Unotelly - did what it said it does - I even put in a support call once and they were very helpful - just decided to give dns4me a try and quite liked the idea that I could create my own custom unblock list if I wanted (but havent used it yet).

There is no difference in setup between the 2 - minor alteration in the router DNS settings and thats pretty much it.
Unotelly does however have quite a nice little unohelper program though - this runs on your PC and keeps your IP address info hooked up with your unotelly account details so the service keeps working when/if your IP address changes. I set up a free no-ip account to keep my IP address synced with dns4me - this works fine.

I actually find the dns4me services config menu nicer - It shows the conflicts in an easy to see manner.
ie if you select demand 5 in the UK this will disable the following services "TVNZ/Channel 10/Smithsonian etc" I did find that all a bit hard to follow in unotelly.

one thing I will miss about unotelly is the android app and being able to easily switch netflix regions, but its not worth the support hassle.

I found the support fine.

Helpful when I had problems in the year and again at renewal.

When it came to renewing after a year I found the geekzone discount code did not work, so I emailed support and they gave me 8 free days while the escalated to accounts. Accounts then sent me a new 1 time discount code.

Another option is just to create a new email address and re-sign up so I am not sure why the discount code is one-time in the first place.

Hi all,

@TyroneB:

We are happy to hear that UnoTelly works good for your and sorry to hear about your bad experience with our support. You have been charged twice probably because the Auto Renew hasn't been cancelled.

About the passive aggressive email, can you please PM it to us or post it here? We find it hard to happen because respecting our customers is our first priority. If that's the case though, we want to fix it. Thanks for reporting.

@reven:

We apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please PM us the ticket number to take care of it?

@Nikoftime:

You can prevent auto renew if you cancel the auto payment on PayPal few days before your subscription expires.

Hi fellow Geekzoners,

This is Nicholas from UnoTelly. I'm really sorry about some of the issues you guys might have encountered in our billing department. We have absolutely no excuse for those delays and hiccups . All issues will be prioritized by our higher management immediately.

I would like to give you a behind-the-scene of what caused this backlog in our billing department. We recently implemented a new process that caused an increase to the amount of billing tickets our stuff had to handle. Over the past week, we have been tweaking this process and iron out the little bugs. I'm very confident that our billing team will get the new process down and able to deliver the high level of service you have always expected from UnoTelly.

Again, please accept my sincere apology to your inconvenience. We will make it right for you.

Best Regards,
Nicholas Lin

P.s. if you haven't heard of Filmefy, check it out at www.filmefy.com . Filmefy is a tool to help you find movies you want to watch on Netflix. Plus, it is integrated to your UnoTelly account so you can find a movie and switch region. It is absolutely free to use. We look forward for your feedbacks.
