For me the IPS 1080p touch display is what I like portable lightroom machine would be useful.

That is good, although really a must with a windows 8 laptop to have a touch screen.

Heh, yeah. I immediately began re-editing that post right after I committed it. But, then thought that since both Office and McAfee are actually used in the corporate world it's debatable regarding those products.

It actually is a very good deal.. i almost pounced on it!! but i thought i shouldn't... if this was in a 14 inch size, then it would be perfect! i am looking to get one for my sister - doesn't have to be so high specced though..

but this one does seem like its like a perfect desktop replacement!!

Compared to the latest models, it only has a 3-cell Lithium Ion (43WHr) Battery (rather than 4-cell 58WHr). Does that matter? I'd probably leave it plugged in most of the time anyway.

Does it really have no card reader/Ethernet port or just not mentioned in the specs?

Edit: OK, read those reviews and sounds like those are just missing from the specs.

Ethernet is only 10/100, but has 802.11ac, battery life is around 4 hours so not too bad.

Just picked one up.

Before I did so, I chatted with a Dell CSR.

It does have a card reader, it's just not mentioned in the description.

The "No Nuance SW included" refers to the colour of the laptop (?). Yeeaaaah, anyway...

Now, I asked him about the price, and after a moment he informed me that he believes it was a pricing error, and has reported it to his marketing team for investigation.

Whether or not it really is a pricing error is uncertain. However, I played with the E-Codes a little and discovered this:

That's basically the same laptop, less 8GB of memory for $1,598.99. Which implies the $500 saving for the X510412NZ was from an incorrect standard price to begin with (so perhaps more like $900-$1000 saving/discount).

Hoping they send it out but wouldn't be surprised if it got cancelled I ordered it last night and they have charged my cc. But no conformation email yet to say payment has been accepted.

HAHA.. if they cancel it, wow.. lol.. i mean, that will be that whole debacle like the PS4 at dick smith all over again where people ordered the PS4 and had their orders cancelled due to a pricing error....But i dont think that Dell would do that..

Well done. Hopefully, that bodes well for the rest of us that also purchased at the "discount" price.

The CSR advised me to place an order ASAP before the issue was fixed. Maybe inferring that Dell will still honour the advertised pricing until it's changed?

Ive ordered one. Will replace an old core2 dell laptop (think its an inspiron) in the garage as it is starting to misbehave sometimes losing the ethernet and wifi like my one before it did before eventually not booting at all.

Fingers crossed its real.

For those who ordered one, did you do any upgrades, such as win 8 to win 8 pro? Also does it have a hybrid drive or just a normal 5400 spinning one, as I can't find the specs on that.
