I have 3 APs up but have turned off enhanced roaming. It seemed to be kicking my clients all over the place. I think if I spent some more time tuning power levels I might be able to get it sorted but actually things seem to be going pretty well with it off. Only have 5Ghz radios enabled.

My main clients in the house are:
Samsung Note4, Note3
Hp elitebook x2 (802.11an) older models

Today I was working on a friend's elitebook 840g2. Connection rate was 867Mbps. I was able to get 520Mbps down with iperf. About 4M from the AP unobstructed.

Help me build a better way of doing politics in Aotearoa New Zealand

Interesting - so you don't use any AP-encouraged roaming at all?

Got only one AP in a small 2 bedroom house :)

Oops - missed that part in the config!

I too have noticed  the same issue with E-Roaming.

Maybe this will help.  http://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t5/cnPilot-E-Series-Hotspot-E400/Know-about-Enhanced-Roaming-feature/m-p/54277#M27

you will need  to set the correct SNR.

had mine running at 10dB snr, as i did find the default of 15 to be a tad aggressive but found that APs would get greedy with holding onto blocking clients for E-Roaming (visible in both the log and the unconnected clients screen)

in some situations, they would not expire the block, and so walking around could lead to no connectivity until a reboot or it eventually expires.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, or has mentioned it here yet, but I just logged into the Cambium Support site and it mentioned you only get 12months worth of software updates included (sorry if it was mentioned but I missed it). I guess that makes some sense with an enterprise product like this, but it was a bit of a surprise to me. Let's hope they get some good improvements out within the year, so we don't get stuck wishing for the extra features the release in 13 months time!

There was mention of a subscription, but I didn't read it properly. Be interested to know how much it costs to keep them up to date when the year expires.

Mike

Was just reading the e400 User Guide PDF tonight to try to understand these units, and found a similar 12 month description which goes further...

...specifically mentions that major features are chargeable extras, and so only minor features are included in 12 months of updates. Again, I'm quite surprised by that, but I guess they want to reserve the right to charge new features as an upgrade.

Not a deal breaker, but worth bearing in mind for those still thinking about buying these units...

I'm liking this whole thing less and less.

After a protracted period of support ticket ping pong with me running many many troubleshooting tests at their request, Cambium wanted to get hold of my faulty unit to do their own testing on. They offered to directly RMA it about a week ago.

I am still presently waiting for the actual RMA instructions to come through from another dept at Cambium. Support were polite throughout and even called me to clarify some of the troubleshooting steps (they didn't seem to have read my responses properly).

Unfortunately, even when I provided requested info within 5mins, I would always be left waiting another 12-48 hours for a response every time. They seem to have good intentions, but nothing happens fast with Cambium. This wasn't helped by the problem being intermittent and often requiring me to leave the unit overnight to see if the unit would reboot under the latest test conditions.

That's strange... My one has had an uptime since the day I got it (a couple of weeks now?) and has been rock solid.

Is it worth sending a PM to Roy (rwittert on Geekzone) the regional rep, to see if he can speed things along. It might also be worth speaking to GoWifi as they might be happy to RMA it since it is so new.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi All

I am working on getting clarity on the ongoing software support/updates on the E400.  I can confirm however that our manufacturers warranty is 12 months and that we will introduce extended warranty items soon as an option. On some of our products like ePMP we offer software upgrades outside of the 12 month warranty and these can be downloaded off our support site.

For those having RMA issues please send me a PM with the case number, an I will help get these resolved as soon as possible.

Regarding those nasty red stickers, using a hair dryer will ease the removal process.

Regards

Roy

Thanks for the tip on the stickers Roy, I'll try that next time.

I've PM'd my case number.

I haven't contacted GoWifi as Cambium support had said that they would be doing so on my behalf and I didn't want to cause an unnecessary nuisance bypassing/duplicating it.

My other E400 is rock solid, just like the rest of yours with an uptime over a week with the same config that the faulty one had.
