richms: If you are buying from nzsale you are probably better off if they cancel the order instead of shipping you what you thought you were buying.

Got to keep missus happy and sometimes need to spend money ... Goods gotten or not sometimes less important. I tried to convince but apparently friend ordered same last time and got the stuff so i just let it go

Generally when I am ordering online I consider it finalized as soon as I put my details in and the money has gone from my visa.

I don't think that businesses should be allowed to add their own hoops to jump thru after the fact.

Passport number is often used as a "security question" on places that have a forgotten password feature. I guess people that are foolish enough to give out their personal information to a business are also going to have put their real passport number into the forgotten password questions.

Well at least at the price you are talking your not ordering a fake nicer dicer which will turn up blunt, and made out of plastic that makes the $2 toys look high quality in comparison.

Interesting comments, I have had now on several occasions to have to provide extra secuirty via an API system when booking flights. The last was on Scot. After payment I was directed to a Visa page and asked to provide the credit card max amount and a couple of other questions that only the owner would know. Systems like this (automated) make a lot more sense than sending in copys of drivers licenses.

That would be verified by visa. Another thing I refuse to use. Its a totally unrelated scam sounding site that is asking for personal information.

How did you verify that it was really related to your bank and not just an attempt to farm details that would be later used for a phishing expadition or similar?

nuf said.

Never.

The only time that I have ever sent anyone a copy of my passort was by registered mail to renew my passport.

had to do something similar for gearbest last week.

on the cc - hid all but the last 4 numbers

on passport - hid photo, passport number and birthplace

did the trick

Well with ASB and gem visa, you end up on securesite .co.uk or something equally ghetto sounding, and it has what looks like the worst phishing site ever asking for personal information, card limit, CVV, and the name as printed on the card. The limit at least is used by the bank when making a phone enquiry about the card so not giving that to random sites.

Also note it's just information about it.
I use anz.com.au when I do my banking.... It doesn't display https until I try to log in.

Sideface its just a general website showing the service offerings, its not the actual link, pretty standard to not run an SSL cert, much like this page isnt using one.

Btw purchased a few things with nzsale over the years. Happy with everything so far but never needed a returns process.
