I guess it's what your expections are - I find my parents' iPad 2 (with iOS 7) is absolutely fine to use; sure, it's clearly slower than my own iPad Air, but, given the cost difference, I think they're still damn fine machines. If an iPad's what you're after, and you don't want to pay the frankly silly prices for the latest and greatest, it'll be a good buy (and certainly better than those cheap no-brand Android tablets for not much less). Best advice I reckon is try one out for yourself - if you're happy with it, go for it...

Yeah I don't want to pay the prices for new models. As long as I can watch videos and without much lag.

Depends who it has been refurbished by. The ipad 2 is a good device still and apple were still selling them new up until a few weeks ago. Although if you can get an ipad 4, as it will be supported for longer by apples ios. I suspect the ipad 2 won't get future ios updates.

In todays HN brochure through the mail, they have 16GB ipod touchs, the current gen, for just $177. Normally I think they retail for about $350. I've never purchased from yesshop but I deal with a sister company of theirs and that sister company is reputable in my experience. Odd name.

As for a 'professionally refurbished ipad', I assume that means a jolly good clean. Aside from the batteries there is nothing to replace.

If it is apple refurbished, I believe they replace the casing, and possibly put in a new battery too. Not sure about non apple reburbs

You could also price match this at Warehouse stationary and get a price of $284

It has power adapter that can be used with NZ outlets. I found out by chatting with their support.

All seagates I've bought off amazon have supported 110-240v. Sometimes they come with prong adaptors, sometimes not -- not with this one though.

The great thing about amazon is the new-ish Q&A section where usually the voltage question has already been asked/answered , or you can ask yourself.

You need to be very clear in your question and ask them to read the voltage spec on the ac adaptor or you'll get people assuming that because it works in the US it could only be 110v.

Even if this one didn't support 230v (which it does), people often just rip out the internal drive and use as an internal drive -- and you save over buying a bare drive although warranty differences will apply.

one for data, and the other for backup hopefully :)

I only buy drives in pairs for this reason. I've lost too much data over the years including a really bad batch of seagates from about 3 or 4 years ago where every single drive (out of 4 including warranty drives) failed.

We've come across some drives in USB enclosures that have an electronic board with only the USB connector - i.e. not a standard SATA hard drive with a USB to SATA converter in the enclosure.
