benmurphy66: interesting 1-Day live chat said this wont support 4G in New zealand

Turns out the model they sold doesn't have 4G/LTE at all (If I remember correctly they said in the description it had LTE, any chance of arguing this with them?)

Apart from that it turned up on Friday and working perfectly.

If you have a 2degrees SIM card in it that has probably hidden the 4G option.

Even if this one didn't support 230v (which it does), people often just rip out the internal drive and use as an internal drive -- and you save over buying a bare drive although warranty differences will apply.

We've come across some drives in USB enclosures that have an electronic board with only the USB connector - i.e. not a standard SATA hard drive with a USB to SATA converter in the enclosure.

Are you sure? While many native USB WD portable (i.e. 2.5" or smaller) drives have been reported, AFAIK, no one has ever reported a native USB non portable i.e. 3.5" external drive. There are various reasons why it's less likely to occur there.

BTW, since most or all portable drives don't need external PSUs relying on the USB, I'm presuming the earlier discussion was referring to the 4TB external or some other external, not the 2TB portable or some other portable. Apologies if I'm mistaken.

3.5 inch needs an external adapter either 110v or 220v or 110+220v.

2.5 inch powered by usb alone.

Have a telecom 4G sim in, It's the SM-G900H model, so no LTE at all frown Bit disappointed, but my fault for not checking first.

There listed spec's clearly said LTE / 4G.

Did anyone get a screenshot of that when they were for sale? Seems that 1day should be sorcing the right model for people if they had it listed.

In August 2008 I was called to an Architect's office near Newmarket who had a Seagate drive that they needed data off 'badly'.  It was an external USB desktop drive that sat upright.  I could hear the drive was not spinning up.  The thing was out of warranty so I pulled it apart so we could plug it directly into a PC.  I had a devil of a job as the enclosure was held together by clips not intended to come apart, and the company obviously had shares in the double-sided foam tape factory as well.  I was really brassed off to see it had a USB interface (full sized B connector) when I got into it.  (There was of course an external power pack as well.)  Customer decided not to pay for professional 3rd party data recovery.

My memory may be faulty, and I don't have a copy of the job notes now (was doing a job for a different company) but that is my recollection.  I've not seen a 3.5" with a native USB connection since then.  It was kinda around the time of the IDE/SATA switchover so that might have had an impact on the manufacturer trying out a native USB connection on the drive's board.

EB Games are having an online only, one day sale today. I've only just started dabbling my toes in gaming again recently so I don't know how good all the deals are, but I picked up a couple of good deals on some pre-owned deals. I can't vouch for how good eb games are as I've never ordered from them, only to say I ordered at 2.30pm today and they'd been dispatched for delivery tomorrow by 4.30pm.

Yes with Easter coming I expect a few deals should make their way here.

I saw this on at Noel Leeming, Canon EOS600D Twin Lens Kit for $888

That model works mostly with Magic Lantern

A while back Harvey Norman had a huge camera sellout and I was very annoyed not to have any spare available cash at the time.
They had that Eos M mirrorless Canon for $350 or so, which seemed a great deal, but it's never come up again since.
