richms: I got emailed that they couldn't get in touch with me and I had to call them. So I did and the guy said to just reply to the email which I have done.

Really hard to get Gmail here as vpn seems to be throttled massively.

Why did they want you to call them?

Possibly because of the ip address it was ordered from.

Price has now been amended to $1899 less $500, so it was supposed to be $1399 on sale.

Well at least we got a good deal, the specs do seem quite good for the price. But would never pay $1900 for it, the build quality for a start probably wouldn't justify it.

Given the pricing error didn't spread very wide(beyond this forum/gp nationally) it would not shock me to see the orders honoured.

I ordered one and opted to pay via bank deposit, which I paid yesterday, so would expect the email confirmation Monday.  Will let you know when I get it.

Thanks for the OP.

Mine is ready for delivery now.

Will be a nice upgrade from my current/old laptop that cost twice as much (not inflation adjusted). Although, the build quality may not be the same.

I believe in this case it is different, as the normal price when the special was on, appears to have been the dicounted price, which they then discounted again. eg they have taken 2 lots of $500 off the price. But they have now moved their normal price up, and discounted by $500 and the special price is now the price that they advertised as the previous 'normal price'. If they are operating within NZs laws (and they do appear to be a NZ registered company) they wouldn't be able to keep moving the normal price and and down to suit. They have to be selling at the normal price for a reasonable period of time.

Mine will be replacing an old Inspiron 8600, which I haven't used for a few years, still good for watching dvds though. Instead I was using a windows surface rt tablet as a replacement, but a laptop is a lot more usable, and I wanted a touch screen for windows 8. Hopefully the built quiality is better than my old inspiron 8600 which was creaky when moved and the keyboard flexed a lot, and was over 3k when I got it. But still had the best screen of any laptop I have seen, as it was an ultrasharp one, and the fact that it still goes is a good sign. Mine is now ready for delivery before the 5 th.

Even after you get the delivery email(laptop going from factory to a carrier) it's usually a good 2-3 days before any sort of tracking info shows up.

Based on past experiences, it is not terribly accurate.
