Where do you get the 15% from? The jump from 65 to 75” is a 33% increase in screen real estate, as shown on a site like http://tvsizecalculator.com.

The first couple of staff I spoke to seemed unsure, but the supervisor came over and told me to just go and grab the product and then bring it back to the main customer service desk for them to process the sale. They were happy for me to just show them the pricing on the competitor's web site on my phone.

In the Petone store the shelf price was reduced to about 50 cents below Noel Lemming’s online price, so it was a straightforward purchase.

Interesting. I bought mine in Nelson so perhaps there is inconsistency between stores but the more likely scenario is that they have a process in place to respond to competitors' price movements, albeit not fast enough in my case!

sonyxperiageek: What bulb did you go for, the colour, Ambience or white bulb?

I have ambience bulbs throughout my house. Colour seems pointless to me, but I like being able to adjust the warmth of the light so that I have have a more yellow tint for the lights that I leave on at night.

Sure you measure screens in diagonal size, but the actual screen size is 33" bigger

Bit like comparing a 12" pizza with an 18" pizza - the 18" is 225% the size of a 12" pizza

Totally.

The net effect of upgrading to a 75" TV from a 65" one is you'll enjoy an image that is 33% larger. That is much more meaningful in assessing the impact of a change in screen than comparing the diagonal measurements.

Edit: sorry, I understood where the 15" came from, but was more questioning this as a useful way of comparing the net effect of such an upgrade.

So, is there anything better than the KD55X9000F available for about $1800 at the moment ?

I know this is bit different from the Veons I've been asking about, but might be able to wangle a bugger it moment, so...

Have read reviews, seems good, still wondering about viewing angles, might be sitting about 45 degrees off to the side.

Anything else on sale to consider ? Please don't suggest anything even more expensive, its got to stop somewhere.

EDIT: being Android, have read its slow to boot up and sluggish in general, should I worry ?

Yep, Dominos in Australia have just bought out 'extra large' for a couple of dollars extra - 50% more pizza. Its 12 inches instead of their regular 10 inches and a lot of people have a hard time comprehending that (No doubt it will come to NZ also)

Who cares if the tv is slow to boot, you rarely restart them . Our Sony Android 700D is slowish at times but I appreciate the functionality like side loading apps occasionally

I have a 3yo Sony android (X8500c) and it's fine... It's not like you're playing android games on it. Netflix and Amazon and catch up apps are all speedy enough. Menus aren't as bad as a lot of people make out. You're never 5 steps in front of it like I was with my old LG (2012 model)

I think I've rebooted it once in 8 months, and that was to start an update via USB.
