Where do you get the 15% from? The jump from 65 to 75” is a 33% increase in screen real estate, as shown on a site like http://tvsizecalculator.com.

Sure you measure screens in diagonal size, but the actual screen size is 33" bigger

Bit like comparing a 12" pizza with an 18" pizza - the 18" is 225% the size of a 12" pizza

Mmm yes I'll look out for one that has a stand in the middle, that will fit my space. The veon has legs on the side and that requires a renovation. Maybe there'll be an 85" el cheapo in the future. No idea what the percentage increase is but more than 75"!

Talking about real estate, i hate it that there are black bars above and below when I watch a proper movie. SOmeone work out the real real estate gain if you count only viewable area on a 2.35:1 movie lol! THough it's probably still 33%

I've tried zooming in in my previous life but I know now that there are quite a bit of action that you miss out on in action films if you do that.

This conundrum used to drive me insane. But i'm older and mellower nowadays.

Well blame the broadcast industry for persisting with 16:9 despite the fact it was chosen was as it was as wide as they could make CRTs at the time Japan developed widescreen HD in the 1980's

PC has moved onto 21:9 being available, and even wider options, but broadcast and consumer TVs are still firmly stuck in their ways of the past with overscan still being a thing, fixed resolutions and framerates and legacy interfaces on displays that still cant deliver high framerate content at a decent colourdepth without that bastard chroma subsampling abortion. At least its not like the old days of 4:3 CRTs where you had to endure a juddery pan and scan transfer that made it look ridiculous.

I know this is a bit late now, I'm just chucking in my 2 cents.

I got a Samsung EVO 860 1 TB SSD for $199 from PBTech in the pre-boxing day sales including free delivery. It's now retailing at $368.99, which is way more than what it was before the sales. I think it was about ~$289 before the sales.

It's been a few years since I've purchased anything from PBTech online and I did like the fact that I was able to have my purchase delivered to my local NZPost counter office whilst I was away during the Christmas period.
