I am with Kogan and RCS works with both the Google and Samsung messaging apps.
This topic has been very helpful.
We are currently into 8 days / 2 cycles of trying to transfer a number from Vodafone to Kogan. We had already done this for another number so we were familiar with the process when it works correctly.
Each transfer attempt is taking four days.
First transfer failed because we didn’t get the message to confirm that we wanted to make the transfer. Similar to the following problem.
CYaBro: That’s something I wasn’t aware of either and the instructions weren’t clear.
We ported my sons 2degrees number but put the Kogan sim into his phone before replying to the text he received about the number port that had to be replied to otherwise the port would fail.
I didn’t know they would send that text.
we’d already taken the sim out to get the number off it so didn’t put it back in. So it failed the first time. Had to go through the porting again and made sure to wait for the text and reply to it before putting the new sim into the phone.
Second transfer has now failed.
We got a Vodafone message saying it had failed on day 1. Today on day 4 we got an email saying it had transferred but it hadn’t.
The Vodafone SIM is still working with the new number. The Kogan SIM is not working.
Going to the Kogan dashboard displays the transferred number but viewing the plan details causes an error:
Something Went Wrong.
Unfortunately, something didn’t go as planned.
Please try again later.
We chatted to Kogan support and they gave us the instructions for setting up the APNs for Internet and MMS. That wasn’t our specific issue because we could not make calls. But we made the APN changes. Now we have the original Kogan number restored and we’re back where we started.
The following post was similar to our situation except that our transfer did not complete. So Kogan dashboard says we are using the transferred number but SIM has reverted to the original Kogan number.
St1ick:
I was porting from Vodafone and got a text saying it failed. Next day at about 8:30am it was ported anyway. I had done live chat support with Kogan after I had got the failed text but they just told me to wait and try again on their website so I don't think they did anything with it.
I would suggest just waiting a few hours and then contacting support if the number hasn't ported and if the Kogan Mobile account website doesn't let you port the number again because "the number is currently being ported"
Edit:
Latest chat with Kogan:
Says transfer is complete but the SIM is still using the original Kogan number.
Support ticket raised for Kogan transfer team to look at problem.

I hope you get it sorted.
The whole process seems quite flakey. Kogan support wasn't very much help in my case.
They told me one of my SIM cards must be faulty and that nothing could be done. However, it did eventually work after a few days and multiple repeated (identical) attempts at activating and porting.
Both of my transfers on two phones took multiple attempts, and there seemed to be no clear reason why the activations and transfers just weren't working first time. I suspect something was broken at the back end and the processes weren't fully operational, but Kogan seemed blissfully unaware of any problems. They seemed to have very little information and/or tools at their disposal.
One of my transfers also appeared to keep the original phone number rather than the ported number, but it suddenly changed some time later later.
I'm now rather sceptical about Kogan as a reliable service provider. I'll probably move away to someone else after I've used up these pre-pay packs. If something does go wrong, the support is just inadequate.

Yetti92: Some positive news, I transferred over this week both my wife and Is phones from on account vodafone to kogan and both seemed to transfer over in about 5 hours no issues.
4g took About a day to come online though weirdly and vowifi works but only occasionally, it's no where near as consistant as being on vodafone, probably because it's not officially supported. Overall I've not really noticed much else different from Vodafone.
Transferred mine Friday, got the text from VF @ 13:10, and a text to confirm porting complete form Kogan @ 15:17.
I was worried as I had to take it off my work Vodafone account also and thought it might hold things up.
Rushmere:99% of the time it will be OK, but it sucks when you're in the other 1%, like I am right now.
St1ick: After 59 days, 4G and VoLTE are now working.
6th September: initial investigation response requesting more info.
21st October: (after many emails) 4G finally starts working.
4th November: Recieved a text from Vodafone asking if VoLTE is now working which it is :)
I've noticed that twice, the Kogan techs marked my support ticket as resolved without asking me. Whenever I asked what had happened to my ticket, the support person told me that it has been marked as resolved and asked me whether I still had that problem.Rushmere:

@Rushmere is 1000% correct.
When I get a 5G phone, we'll see if 5G works....
will they extend your deal for the months with no use?.
Been really happy with Kogan so far, the 15gb plan pretty much means for me mobile data is always on as it connects to WiFi at home and work.
only bug bear is that reception from Vodafone is shocking along SH1 in the Waikato north of Taupo to Tirau.

I have to say, I have been nothing but impressed with Kogan. Everything works seamlessly and the value is incredible. Normally, that comes at the expense of customer service, but after buying another GZ'rs second BOGO offer and it expiring, I contacted them a full 2 months later expecting to be told to get on my bike, or at the very least have my plan shortened, within a week they sent me a brand new code valid for 12 months. Utterly delighted.
Batman: Hmm. When you transfer a number, do you have to respond to a message? Asking because will be overseas when I activate the deal voucher
ok thanks. so i activate the plan first so it don't expire, i can port the number later?
