You still get warranty directly with Sony though. If you end up claiming warranty with PBTech, Noel Leeming, etc, they will still have to go through Sony. All of them (including Sony) use Infinit New Zealand (at least for those who purchased the headphone in Auckland) as the repair shop partner. It's actually much faster to go through your warranty claim directly with Sony. I know this because a friend of mine recently went through the warranty claim process and was told by Noel Leeming that it'll take up to 20 days to process, then he called Sony and was immediately given a reference number for Infinit New Zealand and you then deal directly with them.

If you want that sort of price I'd suggest trademe. You aren't likely to get it here - you are selling a second hand but unused item at a negligible discount. That doesn't generally work out here.

Retailers referring the warranty to Sony who then refers it to a third party is against the CGA.  Not saying it doesn't happen, Noles is particularly bad with this as they have to offer crap warranty service to justify their extended warranties but legally they have to sort it out and deal with the manufacturer or third party repair place.  PB tech is better than most as they have their own in store technicians.  They might not fix stuff but at least they will test it before sending it away and swap it out with a new one if it's dead.

We aren't supposed to comment on prices but since the seal has already been broken on that I don't think you are going to get what you are asking for here.  A good guideline is half the new price for second hand.  If it's unopened then you might get a bit more.  At the end of the day the value is what someone will pay for it so good luck.  People pay stupid prices on TM so thats a good suggestion but then there is the dealing with idiots and the high fees cutting into what you get for it.

All good, I didn't think I'd get a good price selling it here and planned on selling it on TM anyway. Just thought I'd post it here to try my luck.

For the record, I never said the seal is broken. I'm selling a brand new XM3 in an unopened and sealed box. It still has the plastic wrapping around the packaging. It is completely new. I don't really quite understand how it is 2nd hand. It is literally new in a sealed box.

Apologies, what i meant is that the seal on discussing prices had been broken.

Hope I'm not breaking any rule, but I've just posted mine on the Offers and Wanted here: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=77&topicid=248419

I'll answer any question on that thread.

Do you have to pay customs duty, etc when ordering from Dick Smith? That is a pretty good price

No, just shipping. To Wellington it's $9.99.

I saw those headphones at Noel Leeming for $336 yesterday. Thought it was a misprint since it's the lowest I've seen them at so checked their website but they weren't advertised on it. Called their 0800 number, was told they're not available online and are priced that way as they're not sure they'll be getting any more so getting rid of existing stock. Sale ends on 30 April or as stocks last.

Not sure if they still have any left, I was there yesterday morning but it may be worth checking if anyone is after a pair before they all disappear. Noel Leeming Queen Street Auckland had 2 on the shelf yesterday and Newmarket 4 in stock when I rang. Happy shopping!

ETA: Photo now up, hopefully it's clear enough to see pricing and sale dates https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4831/PjwLDQ.jpg

Can confirm that this pricing is still available, in-store only, but they can tell you which stores they available at.
Mount Maunganui had 11 sets and Tauranga now 2, as I grabbed a pair.

That's a pretty good deal. They aren't getting anymore stock because Sony will be releasing the XM4 in August, so they're just getting rid of as much XM3 stock as they can before then.

Thanks for the explanation. I guessed it would be something like that.
Very happy with them so far. Synced to the iPhone and my laptop easily and music/movies sound great.
Way more comfortable that the in-ears that I have been using.

Yeah, they are great. I can't live without them now. I use them extensively, literally every single day. If you are someone who is creative and need to work in a quiet environment, or if you're someone like me who just can't tolerate the noisy work environment (I work in an office with constant chatter in the background), then this will suit you. I also have a pair of QC35 II and they don't cancel out noise as well as the XM3.

Also, Sony's warranty is top notch. My old XM3 had an issue with the padding, the foam on the inside was out of place and so it was really uncomfortable on my ear. Sony simply replaced my old unit with a brand new one.

Thanks.
I’d read that about the NC, and it did change my thinking away from the Bose ones.
Never had to deal with Sony re warranties, but that sounds fantastic.
