Heck can we afford to leave both Taylor and Williamson out bahaha

You jest but you made a point. We need the next gen. Conway, Philips, Neesham scored 155 of the 184 runs. And thats with no Finn and no Mitchell. Do you expect Guppy to get a good or great knock over and over? Not any more.Yiu do with Conway. And the others are more consistent than todays old guard.

I got to say out of all the current Blackcaps so far Conway has been the most consistent. I’ve never seen a batsmen in so much form for long periods. I think in 1 or 2 innings he failed but so far he has performed for majority of the games he has been selected.

No I think we have the depth now where we do not need them, I agree.

However, Id like to see Taylor keep going until the next ODI WC. I think we now have the team that can win the ODI WC. That would be something 3 finals in a row and finally winning one haha.

Also Seifert. Munro And guppy..... unsure

We know he is one of the best openers ever for NZ in white ball. But he has come back from Zero cricket. I hope he can just find form instantly.

Finch gone, Aus best player, but Phillipe the best potential. I hope we get him quickly. But Stoinos at 8 is damn scary.

I agree. If you add Conway into the mix with Williamson and Taylor that is a dream team that should win us a World Cup.

Yeah he is, but in cricket, consistency isn't game after game after game of big scores, all batsmen dip out. Its the ones that you expect to be gone, like Guppy and Munro as two excellent examples. Munro was like Guppy and we still kept him on.

Good point. For a long time the Blackcaps haven’t been that good at cricket compared to some of the other nations but ever since 2015 we have improved every year and I think now this is a team that could win us a World Cup.

Yep, we just been missing that other first class batsman who can score consitently against any type of bowling. If he makes the test team we will win it imo.

But we are now about to produce a top 3 t20 and ODI team with a lot of depth.

And Lockie Fergusson our premierre white ball bowler cannot be forgotten as well, so many options.

I think with this Swing, given Jamo some overs, he bowls from out of the line of sight for the batsman and he swings it both ways with that booming in swing yorker, can bounce batsmen off a good length which is his x factor.

NZ 70:30 now. But Aus not out of this, they got more batsmen than NZ and this is a similar situation, one of these players needs a 90 at SR200.

Boult bowling above 140kph and swinging it, that is where Shane Bond got him and Southee to, when they were at their best, bowling faster. Maybe Boult is finding some form.

Who said AUS bat to 8?

Rubbish so far. Bear in mind they "are" a trial team.

You could just see the extra zip and hitting the gloves hard in that last over from Boult.

Prince Jamo time though imo.

I love the combination between Jamieson and Wagner in Tests. Their specialty is their bouncers and seems to get a lot of the batsmen out.

I wonder how the ODI team is going to look. Will they put Conway in the opening position or slot him down in the order.

If you would have told me Aus would have been 19-4 I would have been laughing. The Blackcaps have got this win in the bag.

I think he will play 3 likely. But if Finn gets his chance and takes it and proves his record with Auckland was due to getting staggered starts with Munro and Guptill blocking him out, then I think we will see Finn be in the team soon enough. If so I think they have to open togetehr, they just an amazing combination and I dont think it will be one season. When you have players that can play every shot from watching the ball and having hand speed to do anything, you know they got the talent.

Then we question who misses out, do some of the old guard become Test players specialists like Waggers.

Just too many players finding form this season, I think end of next year will tell us where we are at for the ODI WC, and of course how we perform in the T20 WC.

Same same, stunned. So much talent.

Boult at his best finally with 140kph+ swing.

Same. I saw it as 50/50 with a lot of pros and cons both ways, a guess. But this AUS team seems pretty average even if its just been 2.5 hours. Bowling was average to not bad. Fielding often looked less than urgent. Batting, well ,not great at all, but bear in mind we are playing top bowlers, and they are a B trial team.

We need to keep this in perspective tho. Our batting was not good, we cant spend every game relying on one star and a couple of nice cameos, but thats why we have often played, good but not great. We often do that. Bowling wise we have stars. And this AUS team is a trial team, out of quarantine, we are playing at home, at a track we know and love, and we are playing a full strength team. We should be smoking this.

Agree. While batting consistently has always been a problem for us, we always seem to have star bowling talent, especially now. That covers off a lot of our average batting, tonight included. But we need to be doing both

I don’t think Williamson will give up is No 3 slot. Taylor maybe. Another possibility is that if they don’t put Conway opening get rid of the allrounder Neesham at 6 and move Taylor and Latham down at 5 and 6 respectively
