So what was the overall opinion on TVNZ's coverage and the value of the Fan Pass?

Personally I didn't pay as I'm not a big football watcher, but their FTA coverage was great

It just worked. $45 was good value for money, greatly helped by some entertaining football.

The only negative, ads, ads, ads, ads,....and always the same ones (fortunately not during play though).

Ignoring the blatant Amercianisation of the tournament, the TVNZ app and coverage was fantastic.
I was able to watch wherever I was, got to see loads of football and the quality was fantastic.
100% great value for money for me.

Very happy with it. Great value for money.

I watched a lot of games live, and highlights, and can only recall 1 or 2 brief buffering/low-quality moments. Watched on a variety of devices - phone, tablet, Apple TV, TV. Being able to stream simultaneously on two devices was great.

Captions were a pleasant surprise. Not 100% but the best I've seen to date, for live captioning of sports. My only complaint was - the captions came on automatically on most devices, except for my TV - had to switch it on every.single.time.

Good value for money even though it was a little frustrating having to pay for yet another service. As someone who tried to watch almost every game it work being able to watch whenever and on different devices - I was watching most days on my phone on the train to/from work and at lunchtime aswell as on thr TV at home.

Had the odd technical frustration. The duration of on demand replays being a spoiler as to whether it went to extra time, and a weird one that happend a couple of times when watching delayed while it was still ongoing (didn't want to get up early enough for live) and trying to fast forward half time it skipped to end and displayed "event has ended" which also revealed it hadn't gone to extra time. Also in the Spain-Uruguay it flicked to ads during the game and missed the only goal. But otherwise all good. Never had any issues with buffering or video quality etc.

Pleased Argentina lost. Such a dislikable bunch of players. Baffling it took so far into the tournament for the thug Fernandez to get sent off which should have happened in most games. Paredes shoving people over within a minute if coming on then fighting people after the game. Simeone somehow even dirtier than his father was.

Played soccer for years but wouldn't class myself as a real fan. I usually can't keep my span of attention going for the whole 90minutes.

Didn't really care who won until the Falklands banner was displayed by the Argentinian team after beating England. I instantly became a supporter of their opposition.

In the final, it seemed like Spain was the only team that truly wanted to win.

The commentators providing updates/spoilers for concurrent games were bad form. Did they consider that people might want to watch the other game too without knowing the result?

Big well done TVNZ great job at hosting.

The commentators were annoying at times , but everything else was excellent. The streaming was outstanding. I only had one minor glitch during the entire tournament, and it was flawless on both my Google TV and Apple TV.

The price was fantastic too. I watched so many matches that I definitely got my money's worth. The time zone was perfect I can see it being far less convenient for fans in Spain or Portugal.

I really hope FIFA doesn't expand the tournament any further. I think they've got the number of teams about right now. The quality was good, and not many people want to watch smaller countries getting thrashed.

never a more deserved loser in the WC. commentators were saying they were masters of dark arts in dirty play all through the tournament (from the first match when messi stepped on algerian with his studs, to the final which bared everything).

i think we were robbed of a proper WC final.

I read somewhere Infantino flew 50,000km during the World Cup in a private jet paid for by Qatar.

For reference, Taylor Swift who was criticized for almost exclusively traveling on her private jets, flew only 286,000kms over 1 year in her 2 jets in 2023.

They had Euro 2024 (free without any paid pass) and think the deal covered multiple tournaments. Possibly Spark Sport had it initially then TVNZ picked it up when they folded.
