😅 big ol zero for Kane'o.
Rest of the team stepped up though so allgood. Glenn 'loves a boundary' Phillips.

Fails happen, you wont expect him to fail month after month after month. But in any game if three can contribute well, (doesn't have to be record breaking, just good to well) and any others pop in a quick 10, that's enough. Then a fail is insured.

Everyone everywhere has been bagging Guppy to be replaced, I'll eat humble pie on that one. Not because we won today and the series, but because he's proven us wrong. As someone said today you can be out of form but not out of skill, or summit like that. So yeah, fair enough. Chew chew

This is the first time we have seen Conway opening with Guptill and today it proved that these two are a good combination together. Now the T20 series is done, where should Conway bat in the ODI series vs Bangladesh. You cannot leave Conway out in the ODI side. Either he opens the innings and Guptill or Nicholls go out or he bats at 4 or 5 and move Taylor and Latham down the order and get rid of the allrounder position at 6 so it will be 6 specialist batsman, 1 or 2 allrounders, 3 or 4 bowlers.

What a pity that the lockdown meant 3 games had to be played on the worst wicket in NZ that is used by the national team and either the worst or 2nd worst ground/stadium used by the national team.

The pitch was a total dungheap. Two paced and inconsistent.

For both sides, so it was a competition.

Thankfully they have a proper cricket ground for proper cricket.

Now all they need to do is get a proper cricket ground in Auckland.

Conway is permanent. Maybe he can open. Who are the most reliable but not high RR batters? Reliable matters. If the openers can stay in, they can be told to up the run rate when its needed, even if that risks there wicket. There is a fine balance between staying in and laying a foundation, and staying in and stifling the RR. If Guppy batted down, and faced second tier bowlers...... Same with Taylor, same with Phillips

We could ask to play most matches overseas, to get better tracks?

No. Play real cricket at the Basin with a good pitch.

And for Auckland a ground that is circular with 75 metres + boundaries.

Conway needs to play there is no doubt in that. I reckon the next ODI match he will play but just don’t know which position he will play.

This is the side I will be expecting in the ODI series against Bangladesh.
1. Guptill
2. Nicholls
3. Williamson
4. Conway
5. Taylor
6. Latham (wk)
7. Neesham/Mitchell
8. Santner
9. Henry/Southee
10. Boult
11. Ferguson

I think Taylor and Latham should move down one position to accomodate Conway. If either Guptill or Nicholls don’t perform in the ODI series vs Bangladesh then move Conway to open the innings.

Kane Williamson has an elbow injury and won’t be playing in the ODI series against Bangladesh. This will allow Devon Conway to make his ODI debut. They will name their squad on Thursday.

This is the XI I think will play against Bangladesh in the ODI’s
1. Guptill
2. Nicholls
3. Conway
4. Taylor
5. Latham
6. Neesham/Mitchell
7. Santner
8. Jamieson
9. Southee/Milne
10. Henry
11. Boult

Ferguson is still injured and I think he is eyeing on a return for the T20’s against Bangladesh. Milne also may be selected for the ODI’s but it will be a wait and see approach.

T20 Squad has been announced. I thought Ross Taylor would be an automatic selection for this series. Milne and Ferguson are back and they have also selected Finn Allen as well. Conway is wicketkeeping this series.

T20 XI squad I reckon they should pick for the 3 T20’s against Bangladesh.

1. Guptill
2. Conway (wk)
3. Allen
4. Philips
5. Young
6. Mitchell
7. Chapman
8. Southee
9. Sodhi
10. Ferguson
11. Milne

Not one ball has been bowled in todays T20 yet, and I am already gob-smacked!

The "ANZ coin toss kid" (official position) didnt even get to toss the coin! Just handed it to the capt who then tossed it.

What a disappointment.

The ANZ coin toss kid always hand the coin to the NZ captain. They were never allowed to flip the coin.

Colleague said he hopes Conway will play the test against ENG and in the World test game. Hmmmm. Commentators tonight talking about it, might depend on conditions, hmmmm. IMHO he is NZ's best batsman by a margin. Kane close second. I see many of our key batsmen going out by silly or poor shots. Conway goes out by a good ball, as does Kane.

As much as I want Conway playing in the World Test Championship game, it appears unlikely. Someone would need to be injured before he can play. I do think he should be automatic selection. Ross Taylor form in Test has not been good recently compared to Nicholls.

Someone who has never played test cricket is a better batsman than someone who has over 7000 test runs at over 50.

No.
