TeaLeaf:

So Jamieson came back well in the RCB game (the team I predicted to win the comp but most call them chokers, rightly so).

Hes averaging 19 so far. He really needs to stop trying to bowl top of off stump. There is zero respect for bowling accuracy in t20 and players will slog you off their stumps over the fence. Even more so with Jamiesons height on a good length the ball sits up perfectly for a cow corner slog.

So he needs to put away his Test bowling.

Just use the booming in swinger from 9ft high, his shock delivery is the chest high bouncer off a good length (broken a few fingers with that one) and the rest he needs to be bowling wide yorkers to a stacked offside field, with the occasional genuine yorker. He has probably the most control and accuracy, so he needs to use that but not in a genuine sense.

Boult is going pretty good too with his wicket taking.

Yet to see RCB use Finn Allen, they using 2 domestic players at 2 and 3 with Kholi opening. Id put Finn Allen in with Kholi and keep the other opener at 3, the Maxwell 4, Faf Du Plesis at 5, Jamieson at 6.

Maxi and FDP saved a major collapse for RCB and went on to score 206 from memory. Jamieson has chimed in with a 6, a 4, then hit a single to put Faf on strike who scored 72 off about 37

DC are having a good run, chasing down and scoring 198 in 18.3 overs, but last nights game was closer vs MI, who only scored 137 and it looked all over early, but DC timed it well and won it in the 20th over, with only 4 wickets down.

DC would be my wild card in the IPL.

It’s AB De Villiers and not Faf that is playing for RCB.

I would put Finn Allen at 3 but keep Kohli and Dev as openers.

Kyle Jamieson has done alright in the IPL but needs to improve on his economy rate.

Someone who can slog 30 off 15 is dime a dozen in the IPL and class of bowling is better than NZ domestic cricketers and disinterested bangladesh bowlers.

Best thing for him is to star in the 100 league with innings where bat wel against world class spinners. Not NZ ones

Congratulations to NZ cricket at moving to 1 in the ODI rankings. NZ are in the top 3 for all forms of the game. To do that, make consecutive ODI world cup finals and consistently win at home against all comers shows how good NZ cricket have become. It's a far cry from the dark days of the 90s when we were a joke.

This is the most successful era for NZ cricket. It's a credit to White, Snedden, Hesson, Stead, Larsen, McCullum and Williamson to have build such a sustainable organisation. It's very different from the 80s team which was built on the back of one player with very good bit players.

You should also give credit to Fleming as well. We won the Champions Trophy in the year 2000 and I reckon since we won that NZ has been a decent side but I would say from 2015 onwards has been the best and right now currently tops all the previous Blackcaps teams in the past.

I really do hope the Blackcaps have a good year at winning both Test Championship final and T20 World Cup. It would really make up for 2019 ODI World Cup final loss.

There were years of chaos prior to Hesson and White. You had the John Bracewell experience, the Andy Moles mess then John Buchanan and John Wright at war.

White cleaned that mess up and it's a very different scenario these days.

That's probably it for the IPL. Hopefully everyone can get out of India ok.

Excellent series win against England. New Zealand were in dominant positions in both tests. On to Southampton...

It was striking how much the English commentators admire the way New Zealand cricket is run. They made mention of how New Zealand pick players and give them a fair run instead of chopping and changing.

A few years ago it would have been impossible for New Zealand to make 6 changes and still win a test. We have admirable depth for one of the few times in our cricket history.

The ICC is delighted to announce the launch of ICC.tv, a live video platform which will provide more cricket to more fans across more countries in the world.

Members have said easy access to high quality cricket is an important tool for engaging non-traditional markets. To aid this, we have launched a platform that will enable more fans to have easy access to watch cricket.

The ICC World Test Championship Final 2021 between India and New Zealand will be the first match to be live streamed on the new platform. This will provide the opportunity for fans in a number of ICC Members to have access to the Ultimate Test between 18 and 22 June for FREE.

In 62 of the ICC’s Members and in some countries within the West Indies, fans will be able to watch the Final of the ICC World Test Championship LIVE and FREE, as well as watch highlight and analysis on demand.
All users need to do is register via the website www.icc.tv or download the app, available in the App Store and Google Play store.

This isn't relevant for NZ but for those in other parts of the world (or who appear to be) this could be a great way to watch the world test championship final.

Sadly the weather forecast for the upcoming match between NZ and India is just looking like several days of rain. There are provisions with a reserve day and and play under lights to ensure five full days of play but it doesn't look hopeful at the moment.

Bit like here! But could be one of those tests, on, off, wait and on again. But you never know!

Hopefully sky put up full replays on sky go.

Im thinking the Toss decides the game for sure.

Looking at the analysed weather by local cricket gurus, Im expecting about 3.5 days play with the reserve day.

If NZ bowl first and bowl well, it could be on. NZ rarely go to 5th day Wins on green overcast matches. 4 of the best swing bowlers in the world.

Im psyched, but I wish they had a reserve Test not just a day, this reminds me of the WC again with the ICC not planning ahead properly and NZ drawing a WC final but not winning because they hit less of an arbitrary number.

I personally think NZ has the mental edge over Ind. But you cannot ever underestimate another high quality side.

I think 2 spinners was a bad move. Id have gone no spinners if I was NZ and 1 if I was Ind. Its going to swing and seam for a long time. I wonder if we will get any play today.

Well so far the test matches that have been played in Southampton the team that bats first always wins.

What an exceptional day of test cricket. Both sides played really well. India deserved a second wicket but I really hope Conways wicket isn't decisive. He was set and gave it away which was disappointing.
