Woohoo, we are the champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knighthoods for Sir Ross and Sir Kane?
Awesome!
Robbed 2 years ago but an even bigger prize this time. And to beat the greatest cricketing nation* in the world to do it.
Work commitments meant I could only watch the highlights until last night. Glad I could stay up to see history made (talk about a fair weather friend!)

If there are honours to be dished out, IMO Mike Hesson should get the same gong as Gary Stead
World Champions. More so than the NFL or MLB World Champions. There were more than two countries involved in this sporting contest over the course of the build up.
We deserve it. Our team has been getting better and better as time goes on, in all disciplines.
Very proud of the former Black Craps, now the Mighty World Champion Black Caps!

Definitely a knighthood for Sir Ross. His overall contribution to NZ sport has been outstanding over the years. He deserves a gong.

It is being reported that the T20 World Cup is (unsurprisingly) being moved to the UAE and Oman.
Hopefully NZ are playing mostly in Dubai so I can get along to some games

Bloody oats we deserve it, and we are in the Golden era of NZ cricket, maybe 2/3 through but given how many Conway type players we have, I see the next generation team already. And hopefully this golden Era and NZ improving 180 degrees in T20 capability the young kids not sure which sport to choose, follow cricket and our small player pool per capita increases, if not the country becomes stoic in Cricket like we are in Union.
I would personaly have liked to seen Glenn Phillips be given a shot at the keeper role. I think for continuity sake it would have been good to get the next young keeper in now, plus I think Glenn will be more consistent. But Blundell has done a pretty good job so far.
Its hard to find spots in our t20 team now, which is fantastic, and we should have a team that only has 2-3 players from the test team, which is how it should be. We had such a good summer in t20s, beating Aus in a series took a bit of the sour taste from losing sooooo many players to injury in the Aus test tour which made us look pretty rubbish, but we did have a few spots to fill.
My opinion is we should just play batsmen who can bowl a bit in the 5th bowler position and KJ is our only all rounder. Kane and Glenn are more than capable of delivering a few tight overs each. Or pick a real spinner, none of this part timer stuff from Santner. Hes not good at either duty and you at least need to be able to be picked in the team for one of your 2 skills, I think he wouldnt have a chance. If the top 7 and KJ cant get enough runs we dont deserve to win. Throwing in a harmless bowler he can bat a bit doesnt solve anything. That goes for all formats of the game.

Really you want someone who doesn't keep at first class level to be the test keeper?
In T20s the keeper catches the ball maybe 10 times max and more likely 5.
Next you will be saying Finn Allen with a first class average of 19 should open the batting in test cricket.
Horrible news about Chris Cairns, my favourite player growing up.

Yes it's very sad. He seemed to have rebuilt a happy life in Canberra.
