Dairyxox:

Its Sopoaga, there is no 'n' in the guys name. And Naholo, only one 'a'. Painful to read.

All black squad named

Props: Charlie Faumuina, Owen Franks, Wyatt Crockett, Joe Moody, Ofa Tu'ungafasi.

Hookers: Codie Taylor, Nathan Harris, Dane Coles.

Locks: Sam Whitelock, Brodie Retallick, Patrick Tuipulotu, Luke Romano.

Loose forwards: Sam Cane, Ardie Savea, Kieran Read (c), Elliot Dixon, Jerome Kaino, Liam Squire.

Halfbacks: Aaron Smith, Tawera Kerr-Barlow.

Five-eighths: Aaron Cruden, Beauden Barrett, Lima Sopoaga.

Midfield: Charlie Ngatai, Ryan Crotty, Malakai Fekitoa, Seta Temanivalu.

Outside backs: Israel Dagg, Ben Smith, Damian McKenzie, Julian Savea, Waisake Naholo.

Who would have missed out if Milner-Skudder wasnt injured - Dagg or Savea would be my guess.  Stoked to see Ardie in, he has been stand out in the last season and a half.  We are still searching for the second half-back, Kerr-Barlow is not the man, but not sure who is better!

Julian Savea is there on ability not form.
Kerr-Barlow is an interesting inclusion, especially since he's injured. I would have thought Perenara or Webber more likely as backup to Smith.
Glad to see Izzy getting another go.

Surprised at TKB being the second halfback given his lack of game time.

Good to see Liam Squire in there though - I think he could do big things if progressed sensibly and given an opportunity.

The rest of it was pretty obvious.

Wow, the first All Black team announced for ages without any real controversy.

Maybe, only two halfbacks but then none  of the journalists and commentators seem to be complaining. So what's the probability that they'll get through without three games against Wales without injuring a halfback?

I don't think the same rules apply to the series vs world cup, so you can bring in any injury replacements you like. (thought I heard that on radio sport yesterday, but might be wrong) - you'd be unlucky to lose 2 halfbacks during a game, and I'm sure Barrett would be good at subbing into that position also :)

So networkn is going to be fuming ... end of Izzy Dagg. Looks like the back three is quite settled. But don't worry there's always rotation, injury and what not. The rugby championship is a long way out still. And outside backs = easy to toss around the jerseys, combination not so important.

What is unsettled (in my mind anyway) is the (10)-12-13 ... let's see who will pop out and make the combination work.

Heh, more disappointed, but there is a long year ahead, we will see what pans out. I am glad to see Crotty in the mix, I still would like to see Crotty and Fekitoa swap Jerseys.

This time WB spots a forward pass despite the TMO saying it wasn't. Didn't alter the result in the end but at least 3 tries earlier had passes that were "more forward" that he missed. Otherwise he was ok. He walks funny though.

Not a great game. The score being 3 their way or 3 ours is more representative. Try that was grab ball and run to close line was lucky, but points are points. Another try was called by the commentators as luck was found in that try. So the score outweighed the game. A long way from the old AB's, a iong way. Drop in skill or lacking cohesion as a new team?

Give Wales some credit. They are IMO one of the top 4 in the world since 2011. But yes there are some errors the ABs committed but usually inconsequential.

And don't forget the forward pass. So 4-3.

What I really want to see is how good this England team is .. shame they're so near yet so far we're not playing them.

I gave Wales a lot of credit. Forward pass was a forward pass according to the ref. But it was the bitsa game the AB's played. Wales are ranked 6th. They tired, so thats their problem, but at 1 on 1 it was an even game for most of it. It wasn't like watching an AB game, particularly with a non top 5 team, so whether thai lack of excellence was being a new team, or they are many steps down from the old team, hard to know.
