Vettel has effectively given the title to Hamilton barring any Merc mechanical issues ... I wonder if he will also get any penalty for the next race.
i say that because I think Ferrari might also be due some penalties for needing to use extra parts
Yes - that race may well prove to be as much of a championship decider as Malaysia was last year.
I believe it was Martin Brundle who referred to it as a 40-point turnaround. (the thinking being that if the race finished in qualifying order, Vettel would have been leading the championship by 12pts - instead he now trails by 28)
Another thought - is Vettel actually going to have to seriously injure someone before the Stewards reprimand him in a meaningful way?

If it were, say Nico R leading Ham by 28 points, that's nothing. But Ham leading a Ferrari by 28 points, and no more "weaK" circuits, that is huge. Effectively handed to him on a platter.
Boring race that promised so much.
I read before the break that 6 of the 9 races favoured Ferrari. Monza and Spa are done, I assume Malaysia is the other, so Ferrari are badly affected in Singapore. Merc will win Malaysia, but from then on Ferrari need to dominate plus one DNF from Lewis.

Also Are any Ferrari components due to break vs Merc?

Merc break more, I assume due to pushing the engine modes more

Except that Merc doesn't need to push 99% of the time. Only 2 Q3 quali laps, and maybe one or two 700m stretches in a race. Really. They don't. It's Ferrari that is pushing the whole race hence more likely to break!

How do you explain the long list of Merc failures? Merc have a faster car. Its is faster as its just faster or how much of that is using the engine modes more? It has to be both.

Well a Ferrari brand new engine gave up after half a lap of action. I wonder if they can claim warranty ...
What is it with Vettel and his propensity for driving into other cars this year?
...following up on my last comment:
Interesting new footage of the incident now available from Stroll's car
How unusual that this wasn't made available to the Stewards when they convened to determine that "no one driver was entirely or predominantly to blame for the incident"
Bring on Suzuka this weekend :-)
Batman: I'm sure the stewards have seen that. Along with the 1000 point telemetry feeds of both cars.
I'm sure they have seen it now, but the BBC (along with most of the other news agencies globally that have reported on this) all report that the footage has only just been released by Williams, and that it did not form part of the Steward's deliberation.
Eg. from SKY
New on-board camera angles from Stroll's car released which were unavailable to Malaysia GP stewards when they investigated post-race incident
Also
It is understood the new footage was only able to be retrieved once Formula One Management gained physical access to the camera which had been on-board Stroll's car in Malaysia.

As mentioned, they have a 1000 (very slightly exaggerated) point telemetry data feed. Steering input is one of them. Footage of steering wheel don't add anything. THeir decision has taken into consideration steering input.

I dont agree. Stroll didnt turn into Vettel, but as the corner came up he went wider, as he wasnt turning into the corner. Why would he go straight when he is on a bend? Effectively allowing the bend to take him wider
