Ricciardo's performance is being talked up about the place, particularly in Aussie media, but he's still only placing on the grid about where he has been all season.  It's been made to look noteworthy by the poor performance of Tsunoda so far this weekend.  I note it didn't take long for the supposedly "matured" driver to rediscover his potty mouth when he didn't deliver the outcome of recent weekends.

That opening series of never-ending corners look like they are a nightmare to drive.  Hard to find a quick line consistently through there, the cars look like they are dawdling even though the screen graphics still show a speed of 100km's or more!

The Verstappen show continues unabated, at least he's had to work a bit harder for the W so far.  I've been listening to the Sky UK feed, Croft and Nico Rosberg have been a painful commentary pairing.  I like Nico and have watched a bit of his YouTube channel, but his ability to describe a lap needs some work.  Hope Brundle Snr is back for Miami.

100% Bias in sport is fine, but there is a limit between natural bias and scripted. I watch other sorts that are the same, but they give credit where credit is due

Yeah a pity. The track didn't suit them beforehand, but it did over FP. Then it didnt. But it "seems" that they can go well, so here we go  "About to watch LIVE Race, go Lando and go McLaren :-)

I am a Red Bull fan, not because of Max (although he is outstanding), because of the Webber days. Right hander before spoon at Suzuka he spun out when he was in real contention for the Drivers. Latterly RBR never had a fast car, but they won 4 titles. Danny Ricc, awesome, now he has faded. McLaren the Kiwi connection they are getting there, and arguably a STRONG driver lineup.

With Hülkenberg signing for Sauber/Audi, another piece of the driver market has taken place.  As I'm likely to swing my support behind Audi as a long-time Audi owner, I'm not sure how I feel about the signing.  Probably a little underwhelmed I guess, though the pickings are pretty slim at this end of the grid.

Looking increasingly likely that Bottas and Zhou are on shakey ground for next year if the rumours about Sainz have any weight to them.  Personally I think the Spaniard should be chasing that Red Bull seat if he has a choice, it's going to be really interesting to see how that one plays out.

Horner is saying no decision about Verstappen's teammate until later in the season, which is the smart move to keep Perez fully motivated.  Mr Spice has his own more immediate worries with the appeal of his misconduct decision likely, and Newey rumoured to be jumping ship because of it.  The off-track stuff is definitely adding another dimension to this season so far.

So Adrian Newey is on the move now, possibly to retirement, possibly to another team, possibly to design America's Cup boats. This has been the most surprising move so far for me, I guess the motivation/s for him making the change will all come out in due course.

I imagine the Red Bull design office is more than just one man and, with the 2025 car likely already well underway, I don't suppose Newey's departure is going to have a huge immediate impact prior to the new regs in 2026.

Having said that, he may like a hobby. Less stress, a hobby. So why not he joins Williams? Home country, a star team from British history. I'd love that.

Quite an eye opener at Miami

McLaren massive upgrades.

Newey wants out for family, sailing, essentially time out

SQ3 went bad for everyone as no one managed the softs

Maybe Danny Ricc managed the softs?

Mercedes poor again

I expect McLaren to be great tomorrow, I'm picking No.2 team for the next few races. Zack when questioned over Newey, he was quite coy, as in we are doing fine, and they are

I'm not sure if Norris was trying to spin it as anyone getting more out of the soft tyres wasn't pushing as hard as he was. Sort of like the time Latifi was just right for a rainy FP3

It affected them all, IMO they all expected better grip for the softs, plus the green track rubbering in, but they all seemed to drive to a grip level they expected but wasnt there

About to watch sprint race

What an amazing twist to the race today...not sure where the pace from Norris came from but amazing to see papaya on the top...unfortunate for Oscar though...
