FINALLY, a caught behind lol. Only taken ~17 edges for one to go to hand haha.
If NZ produce this many oppurtunities next innings, dont step over the line, and the umpires have their glasses on, they could still win this. Unlikely but very possible with a smidge of the rub of the green.
Prematch Macca and Katey talking about the carry and its on Blundell to set where the slips stand, let alone the 2 that have dropped short of himself. IMO he just hasnt been tidy enough to warrant being a shoe in as WK for NZ. Not saying we replace him, but if hes not scoring runs, a specialist keeper has to be immaculate with the gloves. Watch this space I guess, Im sure it would have been discussed.
I think NZ have shown plenty of chances to have taken Bangers twice over, dropped catches, over a dozen edges not to hand, a plum LBW not challenged, Wags LBW arguably stepping over NB. None of that rubbish if NZ has even a slim chance.
Not often does the rub of the green continually go one way, but that is no exscuse. Bangers have simply been brilliant in taken their chances and made NZ pay.
Heading for a draw by the looks, which puts NZ almost out of the WTC already. Could still go ether way, but looking a draw. NZ will have to risk losing it to win it.
New ball in few overs. Dissapointment for Rachin and NZ with a tiny piece of glove before LBW, reviewed. Looked plum live.
Oh man, it starts again, this is insane, never seen zero rub of the green like this before. almost comical. Two LBWs looked plum in 2 overs and both had miniscule edges. Thought oh no Wagner another NB LBW again at first haha
Wow this new ball is talking, the last one was just a block of concrete. Should have kept the first ball in high sight. This one is better though.
Mehidy, finally, luck has run out this time, very well played though I gotta say, sadly not another 50 for him but avg of 20ish goes up. Southee doesnt overstep.
Its like having a coin and tossing heads 10 times in a row haha. Insane test in that regard.
Cmon NZ, W W W and pile on a quick 350 and give the 2 final sessions day 5 to bowl Bangers out, which is plenty for this quality swing quartet. Even with Bangers taking the extra batsman/part time bowler.
Highly unlikely, but possible.
Put the luck aside, Bangers have batted how I wanted to see Blundell, Rachin, KJ, Southee bat. Supporting Nicholls with partnership after partnership.
~100 ov left. NZ have to weather the first 2 openers, and then go for broke. Conway will be key with acceleration as will Rosco. Leave the final ~40ov with a tempting 200ish to get. Which is a big ask but will be a big ask for NZ to get 310 in the next 60ov. I think it will depend on where we are at around 15-20ov in after this lunch break. If 3 down then clearly NZ need to change game plan.
That 2nd new ball had nothing in it where the other 2 were talking. If NZ get another swinger, they can do it, can and will being 2 very different things.

Dochart:
Need to get at least 310 lead before the day ends then try and get Bangladesh out tomorrow. If NZ do come back from this it will be similar to the test against Pak at home and away at the UAE.
Either way, they can definitely bowl Bang out in 40-50ov in a normal innings (ie some rub of the green), provided they get a good rock, clearly the 2nd one did nothing. Although you could say 12+ edges, 2 dropped catches, 1 LBW no ball, 2 LBWs with edges so faint the umpire didnt hear them and 1 lbw the umpire called not out which was plum, you could say that is doing plenty and on any other given day NZ would have finished them off 200 runs earlier. But still, the swing as soon as 3rd new ball was massive compared to when the 2nd was new, or any stage. I think the Kooks have less consistent swing than the dukes.
I think they are missing Watling. Both in the keeping and anchoring the mid-tail.
Edit: Shorful is quick, mid 140s, didnt realise he was that quick. Taskin is the one always making the grunts. I think this young Bangers team looks really well balanced, with the extra batsman.
Bangers played 5 inside edges that all just missed, NZ gets 1 and its out lol. Its just going to continue I think. Regardless, terribly played by Latham, left his bat on an angle not straight up and down, technique error.
Now Im starting to think the run rate will dry up and it will become more and more unlikely. In saying that, NZ cannot afford to block out this test as usually, one will have your name on it.

There was an edge in the first over or 2, went between slips, does that not count? :-) When we were bowling and got edges, where were the fielders?? Same with the no ball wicket, it was a no ball, our fault. NZ cannot win, that was the case before the innings ended. I am pleased for the Bangers, the batters left balls well, its NZ gotta be careful and they were. If we lose two wickets ion the next hour, its ours to lose. NZ can choke
The number of opportunities is ominous right now.
This pitch is dying, inconsistant bounce, this is going to be VERY difficult to stick around. Latham shouldnt have played at his, but it was the dying pitch that undid him, now Will Young has had 2 really low, Conway gets one the opposite that is almost like a KJ delivery that wraps his bat handle off a good length.

Dochart: Bangladesh have bowled and batted better than NZ. We already lost a wicket so soon.
Yep. Fair play to them. Of all the talk of lick, we are getting a lot of near misses and edges almost caught now. It all averages out. 328 all out vs 430 odd for 6 is a huge discrepancy.

Yeah, I felt they left balls very well, reduce the risk. Plus all the batters contributed, worst was 12. (ignoring the last two true tailenders)
