Yes, the bollard incident and the safety car mattered, and we will never know the "true" result but thats racing.

The racing part is Max made a mistake, took out the bollard in the process and damaged his car.  That's solely on him so I don't think the doubt or controversy is really there on that one.

Looking forward to tonight's race.  There are some tricky corner combinations and punishing kitty litter ready to snap them up if they run wide.  Old fashioned skill and consequences there.

Its official, McLaren has reached RBR. Should have got pole, and if were likely to win.

Checo... He will leaver Max locked in a McLaren sandwich rest of the season.

Yuki is locked in

Pity Oscar had the penalty, would have been double podium

If you watched it you might be able to expand on couple of things. From comments Verstappen was being warned to watch track limits as Norris was within 5 seconds yet Norris was apparently not being penalised for track limits. The race ended with Hass being in a RB sandwich, what were the circumstances that got Tsunoda past Hulkenberg? I see both RB drivers went backwards by 3 places compared to qualifying.

Lando's tyres were 2 laps older than Max ... imagine what would happen if Lando went a bit longer in the first stint (assuming he could maintain the pace) ...

no i didn't watch, only saw the 8 min highlights

The comment to Max to watch his track limits was because he had already had his warning early on (lap twenty something?) so if he exceeded again would have got a 5second time penalty. So when Lando got to within 5 seconds Max didn't have his buffer anymore.

Lando wasn't penalised because he didn't exceed track limits.

Secret F1 hack only some teams know about: Don’t drive over the track lines and avoid penalties for track limits.

Perez will be reassessed for that seat if his points are required for red bull to win the constructors championship.

Was fine when max was winning it on his own, but if there is a consistent p2 and p3 effort from the same team then 1st place may not be enough to secure that and the #2 driver needs to deliver.

It was disappointing that the updated scuderia was no where better...mclaren seems to be closing the gap quickly and would need a good weekend to win again..

Max still has the upper hand, but i think RB is starting to sweat a little...

A lot in my opinion, they have caught up. It will vary track to track

Is Checo in a end of first quarter of the season downward spiral again... lets hope this opens up the opportunity for Lawson sooner than expected. However I have a feeling Sainz to Red Bull is still a real possibility if Checo is still flopping by mid season.

Liked the Harry/Karun commentating. Level headed and technical, nice to have a break from incessant British bias from Crofty and Jensen

On F1TV Alex Jacques / Jolyon Palmer + David Coulthard this week, very solid... though I am partial to switch to "international" to get a bit of ruthless Rosberg when he's on

I doubt Lawson will get a drive, he doesn't bring enough advertising dollars.

I'll need to dig it out but Lawson is their backup and is held by the promise of a full time drive for next year.
If that doesn't come to be he can look elsewhere.

Feels a bit like what the All Blacks had been accused of, signing talent with no intention of playing them, just so no one else could get their hands on them.

Agee with that. Assuming Perez is out, Yuki is definitely in, Danny Ricc could be out, Lawson should get a drive. Trouble is Carlos might slip in so its between DR and Lawson. Probably give DR another year, maybe not. Given their ages better to lock the future in. Replacing Sargeant at Williams would work, all depends what happens and when. Be a pity to find out no drive and its too late as Williams found someone else.

Surely his new tie-up with Kathmandu will have the sponsorship bucks rolling in!

Do agree that Perez is again on thin ice, don't agree that Tsunoda will get the seat if Checo is axed even though he is deserving of a shot in the big team. I still believe that Sainz is the most likely candidate to go to Red Bull. Even more so if the Audi deadline for Carlos expires and they don't have his signature. At that point he would surely have an unannounced deal in place with Horner and Marko I think.

Ricciardo is dead man walking at the moment, Yuki is schooling him almost every weekend. Daniel did have the good Sprint result but that's the exception that proves the general rule. Much as he got the victory for McLaren during his time there but was largely pants otherwise. I think his seat is the one that Lawson likely steps into at some point. Do enjoy the DTS-like camera editing they have on the coverage now whereby everytime Ricciardo fails to deliver, they switch to a shot of Liam in the garage or on the pit-wall.

I'd like to see a few more races. RB V Carb performance is more than just the driver. Both cars were let down by poor starts (clutch setup??) at Imola that took them back into the 2nd half of the field. That lead to the early tyre changes and the undercut got Yuki past Hulkenberg like the previous race where a faster pitstop gained Yuki several places.
