Someone I didn't notice but who did have an unbelievable game, was Dane Coles, in fact both weeks! That kid can run FAST for someone his size.

In this morning's paper they are comparing him to Sean Fitzpatrick. The selectors need to find someone to back him up for 2015.

Liam Coltman is the only one that springs to mind as a backup Hooker unless the ITM Cup produces a bolter.

SA vs ARG. South African brute strength over Argentinian flair. I thought Steve Walsh lost control of the game for a patch, not helped by his assistants. Two blatant pieces of foul play went unpunished. Admittedly in the case of the tip tackle, Walsh did ask to see a replay, but the broadcaster couldn't provide it. The SA number 13 should have been yellow carded for it (IMHO with the benefit of rewinding the MySky a couple of times). The other, a shoulder charge with no arms evident, should at the very least be reviewed.

If the ABs can repeat what they did last night, they have nothing to fear from either of these teams.

wow I read an article yesterday in the Herald saying Hansen really should play B Smith at 14 and Dagg at 15 and give B Barrett a start at 10 in case we have a "just in case" moment in the RWC 2015.

And here they are!

I have to agree though, apart from 10, this really is our strongest team. the question is whether this will be our strongest team in Spring 2015, and whether we suffer stage fright (as we had in every single WC, yes inc the 2011 final, that was as close as it gets!)

firstly i agree with Hansen, any rule that needs interpretation should be removed or made clear that a 6 year old can rule on.

secondly can the experts explain the difference between a 6 and a 7? ie difference between playing 2 7s at 6 and 7 vs playing a true 6 and leave the 7 at 7?

I think a while ago people were debating Cruden or Barrett.

well, here's the answer. if Barrett owns the 10 jersey in the next 2 tests, I hope he gets to keep it. He is much more exciting than Cruden.

It was a GREAT call by Hansen, maybe one of his best shows of leadership ever to take this stance with Cruden. The AB's are one of the few teams in the world who don't have ongoing team discipline issues and leading into a world cup, it's critical our players understand the consequences of behaviour like this. I don't believe it should be taken further but a meeting of the NZRU and Cruden is appropriate.

I do cringe thinking of facing Hansen and his team mates and think that would be enough additional punishment.

Personally I hope BB makes the most of his starts.

So the ABs unbeaten run comes to an end.
Easy to 'Monday Morning Quarterback' it, but what was McCaw thinking not taking penalty kicks on offer? Shame only one of the four shoulder charges that I saw was penalized.
Great to see what the Springboks can produce when they run the ball. And I wonder in Pollard are we seeing the future best first five in the world?
Graeme Henry reckoned the ABs needed to lose before next year's WC, so now it is out of the road they can build towards retaining the cup. Not sure if the draw makes it possible, but this match played away from Eden/Ellis Park as the WC Final would be special.
Still think Barnes has a blind spot wrt forward passes.

Rugby has very complicated laws, that are often interpreted differently.  The most concerning part of that game for me was the final penalty by Barnes.

He himself, the touch judges and the tmo didnt pick it up.  It was the home nations broadcasters repeated replays (4 in total) that lead to them desciding to view the incidence in more detail.

Its not particularly fair given infringements for the opposing sides arent also repeatedly shown until a review by the reff.
