Disagree.
This has been going on for years with Ricciardo. He has been outperformed by every teammate since he left Red Bull and VCarb is no different.
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I'll need to dig it out but Lawson is their backup and is held by the promise of a full time drive for next year.
If that doesn't come to be he can look elsewhere.
Feels a bit like what the All Blacks had been accused of, signing talent with no intention of playing them, just so no one else could get their hands on them.
Agee with that. Assuming Perez is out, Yuki is definitely in, Danny Ricc could be out, Lawson should get a drive. Trouble is Carlos might slip in so its between DR and Lawson. Probably give DR another year, maybe not. Given their ages better to lock the future in. Replacing Sargeant at Williams would work, all depends what happens and when. Be a pity to find out no drive and its too late as Williams found someone else.
Danny Ric is an australian and there is an australian GP, Yuki is Japanese and there is a Jp GP too.
Im reminded of that scene on Drive to Survive when Haas agreed to sign Mic Sumacher after one of their german sponsors put preasure on.

A difference there is Haas needed the sponsorship money. Red bull do not. They want a fast driver winning them races that they can then market.

100% this. His supporters keep using "its the car...he'd be getting points if he was in a faster car" excuse. However; he's consistently being beaten by his team mates. He was very lucky to be such mates with Horner to get the drive in the VCarb. I dont think has many races left before they'll switch him out.

if that's true then when Oscar Piastri wins a GP, that'll be Danny Ric's last race?
But Sainz snr has signed for Ford in Dakar 2024 (mainly because Audi no longer doing Dakar campaigns because of their F1 plans). And RBR have a linkup with Ford for 2026.
Wouldn't jnr take the option to be 2nd driver to Max for a year or two with potential to then take over, given Max has long said he's not going to be in F1 for a very long time
Tauranga
Quic Fibre (use R213449EPZJ3R for free setup)
Red Bull definitely feels like the car is designed (where possible) to work for Max.
Can't know that, like it's clearly successful for them, but it does mean it's very difficult for others to drop in as a #2.
Especially where their preferred diving style does not match Max's, which seems to be all of them to date.
Not sure I'd want to go there, even though it's clearly a good car.
Audi coming in brings the biggest dollars in a long while, but there are spending caps.
Ask Toyota for example, just being a sponsor doesn't mean it's going to be a winning combination, especially not straight away.

Agree, Ricciardo has been fortunate to have the good relationship with Horner to get and keep him in a seat for now. Then again, with the harassment case still bubbling in the background for Mr Spice, you do wonder how strong his voice is currently when driver places are being considered.
There are another seven rounds, including Monaco, until the summer break arrives. I think that's probably d-day for Ricciardo. Marko has already suggested it would be nice to have another look at Lawson this season with the driver market being in such flux for next year and beyond. If Daniel continues to get shown up by Yuki in these seven weekends then I think it's a better than even chance the Australian gets his DCM at that point and Liam slots into the seat.
If you have F1TV, Liam Lawson becomes the subject of discussion during the Team Representatives press conference attended by, among others, Peter Bayer from Visa Etc and Christian Horner from RBR. Basically about where he fits into the scheme of things for 2025, worth a look if you're following the Kiwi's progress onto the grid from the two men holding the keys.
Bali looks about right, Leclerc been on top all weekend, Oscar outstanding, then their teammates. Those four will be super tight, all down to strategy and pitstops, and can easily be undone by wrong VSC, SC, or Red Flag. They are the only options for Max and the Mercedes boys
Reports are that Merc have got a new front wing on Russells car that is worth a few tenths, suggests that Merc are happy with the direction of the car. With the Ferarri and McLaren playing around up front, it seems the pack is closing on Redbull as you would anticipate; I think they will find it harder to have Perez underperforming in 2025 if this continues... although they may have shifted focus to next year already and come out with a banger again...

100% Perez is well under performing. Its easy to see Max winning another Drivers, but Red Bull being easy railed in the Constructors.
Bias aside, dump Perez now. Bring Yuki to RBR, bring Lawson to VCARB. Now. Gives then both plenty of time to prove themselves, or not before 2025.
Perez fails and every post fail interview is excuses. RBR are "probably" the team that dumps early. Yuki and Liam are young and the future. Do it. (Yes Danny Ricc who we all love also has to go)
Charles to finally win his home race.. lets go.
