That woman Melanie whatever her name is, is PAINFUL to listen interviewing. She has a horrible voice, and lacks confidence etc, very amateur hour.

The point remains the red card was the legally right thing to do, if you are in fact correct (and I have watched every game so far, and some more than once), and I don't actually agree, it was a failure on the referee's part in those earlier games. The correct decision was made in this game.

I don't think all this fuss would have been made if Wales had still won, but in reality, they could still have done so, they scored with 1 less player on the field, they chose not to play the same type of rugby that got them that try, and it cost them a final.

What happens out of interest if Aussie lose to Wales next week? How would that affect the IRB Rankings? (presumably) it would go 1) AB 2) France 3) Wales 4) Australia and then SA, scotland, england and ireland?

I probably wont affect the ratings, NZ will stay first, aussie 2nd, i dont think Wales can get enough points to over take SA in 3rd.

networkn: He had him very high and dropped him, I think the height was key and I know a lot of people don't agree but they ARE the rules. The card was valid, I hope he gets cited as well and a 20 game ban. I felt the same way with Tana at the time, and every other one. He could easily have paralyzed that guy. They are professionals who who know better.

of course they are the rules. ever broken any rules? but why sometimes they are enforced and sometimes they are not ... makes the fans feel cheated when they are (finally) enforced.

sometimes consulting the other referees can bring some perspective into things, if he had consulted and still produced a red card, so be it.

Strangely, I agree with the referee this time, Red card for sure. It is far more important than the games result, than to risk paralyzing a player. No doubt those who disagree will do so with their Rugby glasses on.

Now, what a great game the AB's had!
I started to watch it but it got to intense for me and I had to take a break... checking back on the score now and then. Near the end I watched the last 10 minutes.
As for the Wales v French, truly the game was for the taking by either side.
And since the AB's demolition of the French in pool play, they haven't shown a 'C' game let alone their 'A' game. They have been darn lucky of late.
This will run out next week, like blood from a freshly guillotined chicken.

I like to remind everyone of the many evil deeds perpetrated by the French to wards New Zealand: )

7 But most of all, losing to them in nearly every World Cup match!!!

For all from France who are here to support your team, I suggest you take the first plane back as soon as possible. It's not going to be a pretty sight as we take apart the French next Sunday - a body part at a time - it will be a slaughter of epic proportions.

Evolbob: Now, what a great game the AB's had!
I started to watch it but it got to intense for me and I had to take a break... checking back on the score now and then. .

strange you said that, because i thought the wallabies never stood a chance! completely directionless and ONE DIMENSION gameplay - kept trying to get through the black line with no result, and every time the inside pass to the prop handing over possession.

and never once trying the kick over the top towards the corner flag nor dropping any bombs (although the cory - dagg pub crawl combination would diffuse even a benji marshall - lockyear bomb i was pretty sure!)

and mr blooper kept on the field meant 100% all black victory!

and dare i boldly declare ... the french do not stand a chance IF the blacks played like today. having said that i am not sure SBW or any other backs add any dimension to the team ... so the hurricanes backline better stay fit and booze for a couple of nights!

I am really torn, I am fortunate I can afford to attend the final, but I am reluctant to go, because I think viewing at home is a more complete viewing experience with the replays, and the commentary, but the atmosphere will be amazing at the game. It's a choice between having 10 people around to my place for a BBQ, and going alone to the RWC..

And the travel time to and from, and time to get in and out of the stadium. Big HD tv and Sky commentary I find adds so much value

I was talking to someone who went to the Semi, and he said normally he watches the games at home, he prefers it that way, but the atmosphere is unbelievable and he watched the game at home after ward and got the best of both worlds.

I concur. I enjoy watching the game on my flat screen, getting all the replays and commentary, but I went to the semi on Sunday and I can honestly say it was an atmosphere like no other - and I have been to well over 20 All Black tests at venues all over the world.

The anticipation and build up to that match was intense. But the way the boys played was exactly what we all wanted, we should be very proud of how well they stepped up.

I wouldn't have missed that game, live, for the world. I wish I could afford to go to the final as well, but having flown up from ChCh for the quarters and semis, I can't stretch it to another weekend of flights, accomm, and excessive drinking, let alone match tickets!!

GO THE ALL BLACKS!!!

Matt,

You are right some referees get it wrong and a Yellow card is given when it should be a Red. One of the culprits for doing that in an earlier round was............................. Alain Rolland (sic). So he knew that he was wrong the first time and then corrected it. However the judgement for the first punishment should have been carried forward for this match. It is not right for a ruling to be more strictly applied when the results are more important than was previously the case. In this instance he could tell that there was no intent and should have spoken to his assistants.

The real question is would you have accepted a half-Australian referee for the NZ/OZ game, probably not yet Wales had to accept a half-French ref for this game. No pressure on Alain - but he should not have been chosen - whatever the result one side or the other would have complained that he was either too strict on his French connection or too lax.

With four years to prepare for the next WRC let's hope that the iRB make better use of the £80 million that they are guaranteed for the event to provide more training and development for Referees from the smaller nations. It works in Hong Kong and on the 7's circuit so lets see Fijian, Japanese or Canadian refs in the next RWC latter stages.

Go All Blacks, big league fan here wasn't all that excited with the RWC at first, only reason I kept an eye on the rugby was when SBW turned. But I'm a fan since the 2nd day of the cup. Go the All Blacks!

Well I am not too happy. I have found out that they are releasing 900 more tickets today, I didn't know that yesterday and wasn't told when I asked, and so I paid $1000 + GST for a ticket, to find I can buy tickets for less today! More interestingly, the $1000 package includes hospitality on a $399 ticket, meaning $800 a person for hospitality's with a cash bar. Not sure what food they intend to serve for $800, at 3pm.
