Bravo Nicholls and Williamson to stem the wickets and see off the new ball for the night. Would be nice to have gotten the remaining 20 odd.

Leaves NZ needing minimum 300, more like 350 more by NZ by stumps tomorrow. As I said yesterday 500 minimum required, which 140-0 I thought they were looking their old selves. 200/3 isnt quite the same, but still when NZ have Williamson set on a flat pitch you would expect a 500 type score. Eng may well be tiring now having been bowling 1.5 days, they will be sore going into tomorrow.

Unfortunately NZ may have left form with the bat too late, and thats still an if.

At least there is some entertainment and fight there.

This is where Foxcroft/Philips would be good both with quick runs and solid spin on what will become a spin paradise day 5. That is what we have identified the likely mid order future. Bowling Wise, KJ and Sears injury as already mentioned are youth that we need to look toward.

Nicholls could go on and save NZ and his position here (that will keep GP out of contention). That is NZs issue, knowing who to rotate in the line up.

Finally NZ with a dominant session off the back of a pretty good start this morning.

Eng are getting tired for sure now, even with the spinner bowling half the overs. Its near 2 new balls worth of bowling from Eng, that does take stamina.

Thats the follow on and its an ultra aggressive decision that most teams just dont bother with these days. Cant blame, were/are in a dominant position. NZ need 600+ for any chance of a win tomorrow Bondy haha.

The lead of 350 might be possible. Obviously I don’t think NZ will win this test but a draw might be possible. We still have about 2 hours or less of play left. Get to 350 by the end of today or early tomorrow and it’s game on.

Not with Wlliamsons share bad luck from the part timer and now Bracewell not sliding his bat was amateur hour.

NZ need another 100 minimum. But will fall 50 short.

You make your own luck the way their keeper took that run out.

483 wow, well done. Its a very outlier result. Glad half empty we are plating for a draw where time matters more than runs.

Brook GOOOONE!!!! Bracewell has taken some amazing catches and awesome fielding.

Eng 80-5 needing another 178 for victory.

Win or lose, this has been a much deeper dig from NZ than the first test, especially after being forced to follow on, possibly should have got 600, but good to see them giving a crack, thats all you can ask for.

Edit: Ugggh Root edges Wagner between 2nd and 4th slip. Im in agreeance with Rigga which he mentioned other week, better to field 2 positions well than to cover 3 half hearted. 6 down really would have made this an unlikely win for England. Not sure who will get Stokes or Root out, but they aint got much to follow.

Edit: Ugggh now Root gets hit on the glove by Bracewell and it pops u and over the slip fielder. Frustrating but thats cricket.

This could be a totally different win for Eng, one where they had to fight for survival.

I think England will still win this test. Need to get Root, Stokes and Foakes out to have a chance at winning this test.

Yep I agree, Foalkes can bat and Stokes is known for digging in, in these situations. One of these Root mishits needed to go to hand to have any chance, unlikely now as he starts to middle it more.

Again its the bowling NZ lack, that 2nd 3rd genuine wicket taker, with both Boult and KJ not playing and Wagner looking poor when the opposition attacks him out of the game, its up to Southee and Henry, which is just not realistic. NZ need a better spinner at that.

Edit: UGGGH now STOKES edges 6 inches short of slip, this is cruel lol

Ugggh oh no, Stokes with a genuine edge, hit the keepers gloves standing up to the wicket and it then looped over the slips. Why is he standing up to the wickets vs Henry? was a regulation to a keeper back in a normal position.

That could be any chance of the test win dropped just there.

And now Blundell cant glove it with another non catch palmed to slips. Why is he standing up to the wickets for our fastest bowler? That dropped catch NZ really needed to get the tail started. So I have no idea why he is standing up right now?

Given the first dropped catch you would think he would have moved back to regulation WK possy with the match and NZs first series loss in 6 years on the line.

Edit: ugggh now another flies over the slips. They should just walk off now, its not their day. Henry still has the ball talking.

Now Henry looks like hes done a serious back injury, that is it if we lose him. Hes leaving the field. I hope its not structural and just a spasm, for his sake.

Root edges, after NZ were pressing for it. edge iust between the slip

Edit twice. Mitchell drops at full stretch, bad luck.

And then Root slams a boundary

So well played Eng, to make NZ pay for their ability to snaffel those on another day. NZ should get no more chances. I just dont think its their day no matter how good they play.

202-7m I struggling to say something bias, factual is enough. Both wickets Stokes and J Root out. This is the real tail now, foalkes avgs 30 to be fair. NZ should target facing the other end.

207-8 Broad ramps down the offslde outfield. You would Foalkes can eiither steer Eng to victory, and or the lamb to slaghter.

Imagine a fit NZ team with KJ and a genuine pace bowler. And then you have Foxcroft and Phillps, both could bat 4 and 5.

Edit: And there is another edge, Leach should be called Ledge, him and Nicholls must be related.

1 wicket right now and its too much for Eng

what a ride lol.

Forget skill, its between the ears now, 43 now looks HUGE to the last 3 batters.  And the BC's will be fired up. Can ENG last 12+ overs? Probably doubtful to be honest

Yes indeed, need catches to go to hand and need some big overs. Eng hard to score as its mostly pure bowlers now, Foalkes the WK is trying.

Im not sure what we can do with the bowling, think this team is fine for interim but long term we NZ need start blooding the younger men who with the most talent requirement.

Southee, top edge, WAGNER catches it

Foalkes out.

251/9

Ugggh, what a shame we only had 4 batsman in the battings innigs and we had no strike to dissolve their first Inng.

Very close but cant see a 10 and 11 not scoring 7runs .... If we had KJ and Boult, no issue, would be over.

AGGGGGh NOOOO it went up. landed between Blundell and fielder. This has been gruelling for the fans, what a turn around..

Edit: Not again, that went through Williamson.
