Lister and Sodhi doing brilliant to drop the run rate with 5-6rpo overs for 4 and the wicket was a result of that. If NZ get another wicket, it could really hinder SL launch. SL will be doing well to get 160 from here, on a 180 surface, 140 and its up to NZ to lose.

Edit: Cricket is such an unfair sport at times haha. Lister and Sodhi bowling 5 tight overs which produced the wicket in the Milne over due to trying to get after a wide ball, then Milne went for 10. Ravindra much the same, is getting smashed. G Phillips is a much better bowler. imo on SEA Tours it should be Ajaz as the outright bowler, Ish Sodhi as the bowler who can bat and G Phillips as a top-mid order who has a tidy avg for a spinner. Id play Ravindra as a backup maybe. Then Shipley, KJ and imo Wagner instead of Southee. Then Mitchell as the fine mid order batsman who can bowl seam slow medium pace.

Edit: that is the old Milne, 144kph takes middle stump. I miss the old days when the stumps would go cartwheeling and the very rare one exploding upon impact. Hadlee did that a fair bit at home, another thing so hard to explain the atmosphere of cricket in its prior golden era as was just so long ago. Milne gets a 5fa wicket and deserved it.

Latham is bizarely strugging when we need less than 3RPO to win, with 9 wickets in hand.

Bowes was damn impressive early on, sad to see him get out in 30s, want to see him given a good lengthy chance when they can.

Seifert really was overdue for a big one, no chance of the ton due to SL scoring such a tiny total. Milne will get man of match for the 5fa, but Bowes playing to what is written on the tin and Seifert is just, wow, when he is able to go away and try again, he seems to have thought, Im going to tke this chance.

Oh WOW Seifert, last ball, he switch hands and hits reverse handed lofted laddle over the fence. He scores 79. NZ Win with ease..

I really feel Bowes taking pressure off the top middle by scoring and reducing a niggly total to an easy one. I just hope he goes on with one, Im positive he will get a shot in non important t20 matches.

NZ win with emphatic ease, unlike the close game prior.

Williamson ruled out of ODI World Cup.

Young most likely going to be playing at No 3 if he continues with his form. Williamson would have been vital in the middle order where spin will play a major part of this year ODI World Cup.

Not so long ago they were debating about whether Williamson could succeed T20 etc.

So Im not rushing into feeling any panic, if it were a test series, which it will impact, then Im kind of like, bout time somebody got a go at 3. I dont think its  huge loss except for his experience (at losing them lol). Shipley and Henry are forcing their way into the team. I think bowes doesnt have the technical skill of some, but haas better hand eye coord, Im looking forward to seeing him get a high SR 50 which just negates pressure on the 2nd partnership

Poor Williamson though, that would be so mad.

How has Mitchell dropped that. Straight through his hands on 2nd look. What a shame for Milne who has been fantastic and deserved that after a maiden on his first over. Hes getting up to 147kph, dang he looks good quick haha.

Interesting, only 3 of the 11 do not bowl.

NZ in a canter with Seifert with all his promise has delivered a match winning innings so far, but would be nice to see him hit a ton in t20 again. He must be seeing beach baloons by now with his incredible hand eye mixed with power.

Latham I reckon despite the stats, is as good as having WIlliamson in the team. You know hes going to score runs, 7-8rpo far more times than not.

With Siefert performing well in these 2 games this might be the end of Allen in the T20 side.

Latham was quite slow at the start of his innings but got his strike rate to 138 before he got out. NZ should win from here but who knows.

Cruel way to get out, but  thats cricket. 88 at SR200 or thereabouts is still  a match winning innings

Siefert has taken the opportunity presented to him by the absence of Allen and Conway.  It's a shame he is not going to Pakistan to further his claim to one of the short-form opening spots.  Personally I'd be prepared to give him a go and drop Allen.

I'm sure everyone remembers the way he took the Aussie attack apart, but Allen's just too inconsistant.  Even the half century he scored recently for NZ came after he was essentially bowled early with the ball hitting the stumps and not dislodging the bails.

He's riding the pine behind Faf and Virat at the IPL, and unlikely to get much of a go when those two are your competition.

I have just looked at the T20 squad for the T20 series vs Pakistan and Siefert is not selected. Did he decide to opt out or wasn’t selected. Who will be opening the innings in the T20 side with Bowes; Young or Cleaver?

EDIT: Just checked and he and his wife are expecting a baby so can’t go.

What with the Rugby World Cup in full swing and the All Blacks tracking nicely it seems that cricket is the neglected child at the moment.

I though it timely to laud the Cricket World Cup which is also happening right now and try and revive this thread a little (which I found locked due to lack of attention).

Things going pretty well for kiwi cricket fans.

  • Blackcaps are three from three (with a pretty handy NRR), and should be four from four by this time tomorrow.
  • Australia with 2 losses from three games not exactly looking convincing.
  • Afghanistan upsetting England
  • The Dutch getting up over South Africa  this morning (as someone with dual citizenship I’m particularly delighted at this)

In all reality though, I can’t see any team getting up over India this time around.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

So true, for me the Rugby has been easier to watch first thing in the morning and only being a couple of hours, but more so Im just waiting for us to play India to get a good grip of where we are at, but will be watching tonights game all way through. Certainly if you look at it right now the team looks very good stats wise.

I can see us making a 3rd consecutive final in a row, but Ind feel like they will take it out at this point. Id be so gutted to lose again, especially after the 19 sillyness super over rule.

Team going surprisingly well so far, I think they are playing the strongest possible XI with the exception of Williamson in for Chapman.  Southee and Neesham are spent forces in this format now.

Looking forward to the India game as well, will be a good gauge of where we are at.

wow surprised Ind didnt choose to bat first. If NZ post a 300+, Ind could struggle. No Williamson, fair enough. NZ have insane depth. But Ind do have good bowlers, but only 5 total, so the openers need to strike. If NZ get passed fifteen overs in good position, they could put a good one on. Scoreboard pressure.

Sharmi is who I think it all revolves around. Bumrah is Bumrah.

For NZ, Im still not convinced about Ravindra.
