dafman: It looks like no nz aus cricket on prime tomorrow?

It totally sucks that Sky requires me to join for 12 months just to get access to the occasional game of world cup cricket. Why can't they at least offer me the chance to pay view individual games?!

Neon's overpriced substandard offering is the latest example of a company that neither cares or understands customer service. If only kiwis would vote with their feet and consign sky's antiquated rip off structure to pasture!

Sorry to hear that. I was in the similar situation but made the jump little early in February for 6 month contract knowing that IPL is slated just after WC.
Really dislike the fact that despite us being the host, cannot watch FTA telecast of these matches.

This is a clear example of why so many people resent the virtual monopoly that Sky have in many aspects of local broadcasting and why people will flock to support the online streaming services. Sky has never given a toss for anything but protecting the bottom line for as long as possible and people have long memories with this sort of thing. If lightbox for example added live streaming of this sort of event I would certainly add it to the Freeview/Netflix/Hulu mix I currently use. I would rather listen to radio than give money to Sky though. This being said, if Neon had a reasonable cost live stream I would consider it.

i'm a little bit afraid ... the south africans have rested nearly a week. the black caps will get 2 days rest ... i hope they are not too tired! (there's one person who needs to recharge his batteries a bit more than the rest, just a bit).

hope Hesson has all those covered ...

We've used Watch Cric for everything so far and it's been quite interesting seeing the UK adds and their non biased assessment of the games in the interval studio discussions.

Without it I wouldn't have seen this crackup commercial either:

But yeah, the present sports monopoly is a sham and it's pretty incredible it's been allowed to go on for so long really.
I am however aware that splitting the coverage may mean some are worse off than having one sole provider.
Sky's requirement for a base plan and then a sports package upgrade is the real kicker though, and even more if you want HD.

Most are happy to pay for a HD streaming sauce nowadays, with the impressive internet infrastructure the country now has in place.
Bring on the competition I say, as I'm happy to pay for just the services I want.

I understand we've outsourced some consultancy work to Suzie the waitress. We'll be fine :-)

If you feel its a monopoly, your probably best to talk to the content owners, and not Sky. They will call the shots and rake the cash in.  TV1/2/3 would have had the option to telecast it, but who pays for it?  You can't get around what smem of the entertainment owners want to allow the networks to air it.

"Most are happy to pay for a HD streaming sauce nowadays"     Hmm, I will keep an eye out for that when next at Countdown!!  :-)

Just don't let your parents/non techs look at that link....

7 SPyware apps, 2 browser hijackers, a web based money-making seminar running  and a grinding machine later..

"but it told me I needed to update flash.."

Covered in adverts for fake 'your flash needs updating to play video' 15.2 adverts (if you have IE or no blockers). Unawares will click it even though PC has 16/17 and would play after 20sec or so.

She works the other way around, and will be depleting the batteries of the Proteas.

Just in case the reference was lost on you, see here for details. Who says Kiwis don't like a good conspiracy theory? :-)

TAB odds show its close, 1-82 to 1-92 in SA favour. Nothing in it. We have been wininng even as batters take turns at turning up, bowlers are stellar. Bout time most of our batters fronted up, just for two games is ok.......

I dont even think pressure will be on us. We have been attacking from ball one if we bat, and throwing our top bowlers at them from first ball, and bowling the top bowlers out, its ALL about wickets. IMO we dont have any pressuire on what type of game to play, our only option is to go all out as we have been. Foot to the floor in each innings. The days of planning innings was in the previois ODI lifetime

All good conspiracies have to have a catchy name or central figurehead. Helps them to gain traction :-)

Went to record the cricket tomorrow online via the TiVo "Genie" service, and the damn thing is still showing originally planned content! How long can it take for the TiVo EPG to be updated with amended programming, or is it sometimes that it's just left inaccurate?
