I lived a long time in aus and love the country and the people.

There is this over patriotic theme which is often hypocritical. Like being fair play sportsmanship. Yet time and time again this happens. Ricky Ponting swearing at the England from below on the field, Stuart McGill shoving an opposition player as he walks out to bat. Things like that are just not sportsmanship, yet Ponting in there eyes is the best player of the game in the modern era which is far from the truth as well.

But get them in a normal situation and they are very similar to kiwis, yet if they make a joke about us being ram rooters its not considered a violation at human resources. its like there is a work place policy for everyone. and then one for kiwis. and dear make a joke back about them being jealous because roos run to fast for them to catch and they go into a sulk. ie dish it out but cant take it.

Everyone knows it's better with a Ewe...

I remember Steve Smith when he first put on the 'Baggy Green' and thought he is a future great Aussie player and possible captain. Like Michael Clarke when he first put on the 'Baggy Green', he was all over the field, full of encouragement and promise. Michael Clarke became a good Captain but then when they gave SS the captaincy he turned into a little S**t.

Shame Shame - ban for life

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

haha yes, was always one of favs. they look for you to be offended and you say something like that, laughter turns to faces that look a dear in headlights.

actually michael clarke is prob to me the worst of them all. stuff hes done off the field like the incident with benji marshall, hes a Bogan.

Steve Smith I always thought was their closest since Alan Border to being a fair sport, he shakes hands when he loses and credits the other teams etc. I mean lets not go overboard lol

Batman: Wasn't Russia banned from the Olympics for cheating? Australia should be banned from cricket.

But aussies said magic word "sorry". last time I checked it worked in kindergarten, so they be fine too.

I was transferred to work for the Australian arm of a NZ company in Sydney for three years in the 1980’s. Given that many Australians look down on anything Kiwi, it was very interesting watching them having to swallow the fact that all the important decisions came from NZ and that they were answerable to NZ.

In the Sydney head office for Oz there were three of us Kiwis and about 20 Aussies. But given that the GM for Oz was one of the Kiwis, there were not a lot a sheep shagger jokes going round.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Haha yes, I enjoyed being a PM for that aspect, and had a really cool aussie boss, he was more sophisticated. generally its usually very light banter at worst if the people come from educated areas and are well travelled.

the not so traveled like the guy who hasnt left adelaide in his 50 years thinks all of NZ snows etc and all our cities are little towns.

You get f wits in NZ too, i would say on a whole though this crazy "Aussie" patriotism is shoved down their throats, its like a snowball, its like they have a point to prove but the only person listening are aussies because most sophisticated countries are a lot more relaxed on having to say "we are the best" whether it be true or not. I dont know if the fact NZ achieves so high at all areas per capita annoys the ignorant ones but;

A survey was taken about the aussie accent. If you go back to the 50s, aussies and kiwis sounded pretty much the same. There is the aus/nz dictionary, words like cobber etc are not soley australian like they think (they truely think their slang is unique to aus).

As it turned out the reason their accent has changed SOOOO much to this high pitched nasally twang and drool, the survey concluded is because they wanted to be differentiated from NZ'rs.

The ball tampering they attempted doesn't justify a life ban.. it's no different to the the times when Faf Du Plessis was accused of tampering by using saliva from his breath mint or Shaid Afridi for biting the ball, not to mention the times when teams have been caught picking at the seam on the ball. Even NZ have deliberately ball tampered - the series with Pakistan in the 90's I read about today.

I agree with those I've seen calling for the laws around ball tampering to be reviewed, after all shining the ball is "altering the condition of the ball".

This is what gets me. I dont think its a life Ban for Cameron, if it was Smith and Warner who said do it, they should be banned for a period.

The difference with shining the ball is its within the laws of the game. YOu are allowed to pick the seam in front of the Ump for grass etc.

One thing that was a theme in this last Ashes tour was Australia throwing the ball on the bounce onto the harder outer pitches. They got talked to at least 3 times by the umpires over it.

Does SA use Kookoo balls or Duke?

I really wish NZ would change to Duke so the bowlers were more in the game. Watching swing bowling is a beautiful art and the Kookaburra kills it.

Remember a few years back where they had to change the Kookaburra like 6 times a Test, not sure what they did to fix the problem, but Southee and Boult definitely dont swing it like they use to. Wagner use to swing the ball.

Thats the bit that annoys me, if Smith and Warner were the masterminds Cricket Australia should be doing the right thing and stripping captaincy and vice captaincy.

Otherwise its just, oh we are sorry we got caught cheating. And thats all that happens. the ICC needs to set a precedent and stick to it.

I just found Smith very arrogant in his reply, no i wont stand down because im the captain and i need to steer the ship etc etc. What a Moron. You just got caught telling your players to cheat. Its no less dodgy than Lou Vincent taking bribes.

In 4 years time people will remember what Cameron did but Steve Smith will be clean as a whistle and thats just plain wrong, a captain should be doing the opposite and encouraging his players to play with dignity and sportsmanship, hes clearly not of moral fibre and everyone knows Warner is a dog, they should be taken to task and anything less from Cricket Aus pretty much makes a statement on behalf of the moral fibre of Australia.

Lived in Aussie for 30 years and this is one of the things that bugged us. They have never really come down hard on bad behaviour or misconduct or even blatant rule/law breaking in sport, any sport (The Storm debacle 2010 not with standing). So what do you get, perpetuation from generation to the next generation. From the nursery to the grave you could say. It doesn't help, of course, that they are huge gamblers so any advantage, no matter how slight and they can get away with it, they will go for it.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
