What I find baffling is that we are being asked to feel sympathy for a player who pocketed north of $2 million for the game vs the ump who got ~$300....
In my view it's irrelevant how much each person is paid. The player/umpire, is either correct or incorrect, consistent or inconsistent. Acting like an adult, or not.
What would restore my respect for SW is for her to take a few days, and say that upon reflection and having had a chance to cool down, she unreservedly apologises for her behaviour and accepts responsibility for it. She has failed as a player and role model and will endevour to handle the situation differently.
Fat chance unfortunately.
I wondered this as well. Easy to do, get many brownie points back, show you are human. But I feel she will stick with the sexism angle. While I detest sexist behaviour, it does appear to be a tool to get out of the bag and play at times. Given that there is a lot of support for her and against her, she is now stuck as she cannot now undermine what her supporters, many of whom are players and legends have said.
