JonnyCam:

There was a 10 year period where the Highlanders did not make a semi final in super rugby, and it was a hard watch.

A couple of years with Glen Moore as a coach were particularly hard as a supporter.  A coach who incidentally is now involved as an assistant coach at the blues

Sure, but the Blues haven't made the top 8 in how many years?

I can't say I followed the Highlanders except for maybe the past 5 years, but the Chiefs were generally underperforming then too right? NZ Dominance in SR is a relatively recent thing.

I tend to notice when my team is going poorly. Chiefs were always the target to get rid of an NZ team, then the highlanders.

Looked up the chiefs around 2007 - 2010, they were 6th, 7th, 2nd, 11th   (oddly) I'm guessing they also suffered the post 2007 players leaving.

During 2007 - 2010, the Highlanders won 10 games from 29 to finish 9th, 9th, 11th, 12th

You are right about the Blues though, and I can't see them going anywhere soon. Lack of application and playing for each other?

A few of close losses to NZ teams may have worn them down

The blues are not going anywhere because they haven't solved their fundamental problems.

That being the Auckland schools competition is not producing the right type of player for them and that they don't recruit well.

Auckland schoolboy rugby is producing one dimensional players who do well at that level because everyone is the same.

The style of rugby is too much the same and little  like league so a key position like 1st five are not producing Union players.

Also the Blues feel like they have to take all their players from Auckland when maybe they need to recruit NZ wide.

Well, I see that on top of those issues, they have a tendency to hire "star" or marquee players, and then expect them to solve all the issues. They haven't really worked out how to put together a team. This season isn't probably a fair representation of the Blues given their massive injuries. It's hard to build a team when half your team is changing week to week. Other franchises have the same injuries, but in the case of the Crusaders for example, they already have their culture and structure, whereas I think that has been identified as the issue and Tana has tried to work on it but hasn't had the consistency of player availability to get the groundwork laid.

I think the issues are actually further up the chain, and have been for a long time. I think there is board interference in either the coaching box but most likely during selections.

I don't see a change in coach helping too much, I really like McDonald, but I am unsure if he is the right one. If they changed, they need someone massively experienced, maybe an overseas coach looking to return. Gatland, or the ilk. Someone to bring the culture with him to some degree.

I don't see the Blues getting better for 2-3 years and that's assuming everything goes right for them from here on out.

Wow I didn't see that coming:

ALL BLACKS: Jordie Barrett, Ben Smith, Anton Lienert-Brown, Ryan Crotty, Rieko Ioane, Beauden Barrett, Aaron Smith; Luke Whitelock, Sam Cane, Liam Squire, Scott Barrett, Sam Whitelock (capt), Owen Franks, Codie Taylor, Joe Moody. Reserves: Nathan Harris, Karl Tu'inukuafe, Ofa Tu'ungafasi, Vaea Fifita, Ardie Savea, TJ Perenara, Damian McKenzie, Ngani Laumape

I picked a team but I got a number of positions wrong. Ben Smith, Luke Whitelock at 8, Liam at 6.

I picked Naholo at wing, Fifita at 6, Squire at 8, and Smith at Fullback.

TAB has AB's at 1-03, so a walkover. Evens are 24.5 scoreline.

Predictions? (Before the game)

Wow Crotty. Beuaden barret would have tried to go alone. his brothers are ok, but he BB is such an arrogant little twerp.

Surprising someone from Tarananki to have no humility and be so up them selves, perhaps maturity.

What a load of nonsense. Please stop with the personal drivel when you have no evidence.

Crotty plays with maturity, baretts are losing us this game. 7-10 against France, WTF

Auck might not be super rugby champs but they never let this crap happen in their 5 year winning reign prior to letting other provinces buy external players.

Sorry but BB is just all over himself not their for NZ.

This is without doubt the weakest All Blacks team in history. I dont think thats arguable.
