Yep. A rule is fine but it has to have boundaries. Track has a white line, bollard as to where you cannot re enter the track. The apex needs to be marked and an exact definition of significant proportion. Is that so hard to define in todays world?

So, the outcome will be vague, teams will disagree on the signifcant portion or where the apex is, so we will still have stewards discretion, which is why we are having the issue. Id rather have a rule that wasnt ideal but it was 100% defineable

Another Max win.  Ferrari seem to be maximising unreliability, poor strategy and Charles's frequent offroad ventures when under pressure

A pity as the cars are very very close and also very different in where they get their laptime, leading to some tracks favouring either team. Paul Ricard favoured Ferrari as the DRS zone was too short to allow a close performing rival to pass, even with RBR's overspeed advantage

Perez was worse than poor

Mercedes improves a little but so did RBR and Ferrari

Yep, no excuses for Perez, its it's ending, geez Even then he was slow all weekend, hes not even a wingman

Ferrari decided not to pit Charles, even though the undercut is huge, then they were a net second as only 27 secs ahead of Max for their 28 second pitstop. Le Clercs latest error was probably pushing hard due to that.

Yep 10s summary:

Ferrari didn't give Charle very good tyres and he binned it himself with the rear stepping out on a long right hander.  All very pirouette ballet styles.

Carlos was stuck behind Perez and told the pit wall to pit him.  (hate the word box myself...)
Whilst they worked on that he managed to battle with Perez and pass him, so the situation had changed.
Ferrari then pit him anyway, saying his tyres wouldn't last to the end of the race and he throws away forth or a possible podium to end up further down 10 laps later at the end.  Ferrari really are pretty pathetic around some of these aspects.

Mercedes did a good job staying in contention and didn't seem to be bouncing around quite as much, so that was cool.  Bit of a solid revival from them.

Alpine and McLaren were both up solid this week.  Alonso was awesome.  The McLarens were catching him and the team radioed him to check all was ok. He said it’s all good, that he wanted them to catch him so they would run in the hot air behind and use up their tyres.  He knew he was fast enough to keep ahead of them, and that’s exactly what happened.  Pretty legend there.

Further down was the usuals, Haas, Aston Martin etc all doing their things.

there is a theory on the internet that Perez was testing RB's new floor as the current one is thought to be illegal and will be banned in the near future (not sure which race)

The new floor deflection rules will come in after the Summer Break, i.e. for the Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps on 28th August

Well he sucked pretty much this race, so that's not a good look.

Wonder which other teams will be impacted by this change.

I did wonder this as he was previously faster than the Mercedes and generally around Sainz or there abouts... The actual change in plank and block wouldn't actually be a change to the floor per se and it may not need to be noted to the FIA like other upgrades are... technically they're not supposed to be doing it so I doubt they would advertise... However Horner has been quite vocal that it won't affect them so it could just be a bad day... but he couldn't even get away from the Mercedes of Russell which is quite surprising given how fast Verstappen was in the same car spec.

Can't believe Ferrari didn't leave Sainz out of the mediums and have a go, the comedy of errors from the pit wall and the unsafe release, this is what the 4th race where Sainz has had to override dumb calls from the pit wall.

Legitimate mistake from Leclerc but you have to wonder if they'd responded to Max pitting by pitting he would have never had to be pushing on such old tires.

Perez definitely had an off weekend but don't write him off after one race, he's the most consistent number 2 driver they've had since Ricciarado left.

To no ones surprise the car will be developed towards Max's driving style at the expense of Perez style and Max will be give the sure fire upgrades first and Perez the experimental ones to test out.

As we've seen with Ricciarado's struggles at McLaren some drivers styles and car characteristics just don't work well. After talking down any upgrades for the rest of the year McLaren turned up with upgrades but it wasn't enough (yet, presumably setup can improve) to stay in front of Alpine in the race. Lando delivered a banger in quali, still hoping Ricciarado will find the magic of old old but the car just doesn't suit him.  Love to see Alonso up there.

Russell appears to channeling younger Max kamikaze passing style.

Disappointing weekend for Haas and Alpha Tauri expected more from them after how they were performing in practice and qualifying.

there's another elephant in the room that nobody on sky is talking about ...

Merc was porpoising 1000% one week and the next week 0% and remains 0% since that day

something magical happened but nobody seems to be talking about how ....

we will never know as RBR has 100% denied any issues with their floor

maybe time will tell, maybe they find another fix and seamlessly transition and nobody will know

Not quite. They will be working on it. Last two races had smooth tracks, so the inherent bouncing they do have isn't exacerbated by bumps in the track. Over time it has reduced, others bounce as well, they also seemed to have reduced over time. Not sure what Hungary is like, lets see what happens

RBR has less wing these days that must help, a more gradual and also less downward force. Doesnt Merc run more wing? If so, its harsher, so harsher consequences if the floor DF releases suddenly

Run a higher ride height, easily fixed. If that causes the car to be too slow, its a design issue

I noticed the commentators were not talking about proposing either, seemed like it had been forgotten about.

I also want to ask about peoples experience with F1TV and the Chromecast with google TV device, should I start another topic or post in here?
