It wouldn't have made a difference, but how can a game as popular as League, not have the ability to call back a try for not one, but TWO forward passes?

Handling errors and not kicking the penalties took all the pressure off the Broncos, and gave them the 'ok' to play with freedom and pace. If we could have completed our sets and kicked our points, the end result would likely have been much closer. The Broncos were able to cut the Warriors defensive line far too easily at times, likely a result of the pace of the game.

Ultimately, the better team won.

Fans have much to be happy with and next season's returning players and new recruits should help. Winning is a habit, and now the Warriors have a taste for it, if they can keep that front of mind, results should be much better, consistently.

Reece Walsh is an obnoxious celebrator.

Nothing wrong with how we played, just outclassed in every aspect. A good bulldozer vs a bigger bulldozer. Broncos did everything faster and stronger, but we now have a good base for next year.

Yeah two forward passes was silly to be missed. NRL seems to have a very loose issue with forward passes, see them most matches not penalised.

Well said everything in your post. I have no issue with raising ref howlers. This was simply idiotic. Even on field a normal brain would have seen the difference, then Walsh immediately looking for the ref to see if it would get pulled up.

But 100%, these should be called by video ref when they have clear markers to indicate a forward pass. It was not just forward, but a penalty for being thrown forward. Now the Refs go crying to Lawyers when its called out what appears one way rub of the green. Lawyering up actually makes things look more suspicious.

Then there are the ones that go up try or no try etc. I think they should abolish having an opinion now and just let the video ref do the work. Im all for speeding up the game but we have technology now to get the game right. Keeping in mind the refs have further viewing to what we see on our screens. Its just getting better and better wiith the angles. Now if the video ref honestly cannot decide, then it should go back to the ref as inconclusive.

We did a good job on Walsh and Reynolds, the one main guy we took a bit for granted and possibly overlooked was Ezra Mam who had a blinder and was involved in most of the tries. Just too much going on for Defense to handlle, despite being so good this year, it will need to priactise scatter gun offense like in this game,

Im quite pleased, I was 95% sure we would make the 8 given the player signings and early feedback on the coach who I had picked in my top 3. So to get 3 months in where we would normally already look unlikely and needing some miracls to make the 8, 6/6 I was quite pleased to be around the 8, then to go on and win the next 11 from 12 was just beyond expectations. at home, away from home, top 8 sides, all tough sides in the NRL. We did really welll for the First year of a rebuild. Zero doubt we will be fairly well represented come Wednesday in the Dally M's.

Next year, having RTS join us at centre will be brilliant in every way, its a shame for Berry who has become very much a big part of our success. But the left edge has problems all around. The Warriors need to blood young X factor players, so imo we should be looking to develop Leiataua in first grade, hes not going to get better in the Cup team. The same can be said for a number of players but Volkman needs to play #6 alongside Johnson in easier games, we wont keep him otherwise nor will we improve him as the "Future" of the NZ Warriors. If SJ does finally hang up his boots end of next year, we will be ready. We have a plethora of first grade level reserves, Im not sure where CHT wil o though. Both teams made the prelims, it was much closer for NSW Cup team however and imo deserved to make the final, but sometimes the game just doesnt go your way. Was a mighty come back in he second half,

So much to look forward to :-)

Warriors coach Andrew Webster’s message to fans: They are in a position to challenge for - and win - grand finals (msn.com)

Webster sums it up "“I feel like the football programme is in a position for us to launch something here. Stay consistent, challenge for grand finals and win grand finals.”

I feel that the Warriors will now cease to be a feeder team, that in itself will be huge. The Walsh's of this world would stay with us as we are now a winning team, not just get discovered then move to another winning team

Walsh left because the Warriors moved back to NZ and his daughter was in Brisbane.

I feel that's a little premature. One good season does not a championship side make. Another good season and they could be building toward something. As a pro player you aren't going to ignore 10 years of average results for one season of good results. Warriors won games they'd have lost in prior seasons but not yet a proven quantity. I guess we will see.

The one guy I feel really sorry for (or at least I did in the immediate aftermath) is Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.
They cut to a quick interview with him and he was choking back the tears and saying that he felt like they'd let NZ down. You could feel the emotion coming through the telly.
If I am honest, I think they did the opposite - NZers were so invested in this - it's like the mid-90's. The warriors did the country proud.

Every single one of those guys should be proud of the way they performed this season - this game was just one too many. It happens.

Fair enough, but I said "The Walsh's of this world" Plenty of decent players have jumped the ship in the past

Mostly they go for the same reason as Walsh - to be closer to family. That’s never going to change with Australian players.

True. Mercenary Reynolds types are pretty much it, for money is about it. Targeting NZ marquess players makes a lot more sense. But also growing the game locally so they ready for aus level expectations being in the Warriors by u16 etc. Givees youngsters other avenues than being targeted and expected to move.

Dai Henwoods commentary was the one I ended up listening to whilst I watched the game and It was quite enjoyable. Better than the usual Australians who do it.

I didnt consider that. Im on Kayo so just go with it, but Ray Hadleigh does my head in,

Possibly the best GF of all time. Couple of minutes to go. down by 4 point, game looks gone. Panthers get a final set in Broncos 40m and Cleary steps up like a champion half that he is and finishes it with one of the best individual half back tries in a final ever.

I took great pleasure in watching Walsh offload their final chance to Panther.

This is truely going to be a sick burn for what was looking like a solid chance at a Prem next year. Im tired of players signing for money then just using compassionate grounds as a cause to suit them, all of us make sacrafices for work, I dont see how Sport should be any different. They truely do appear to feel above the rest of us. The only way I would agree to this is selling him at a profit to give us a chance at another top 4 prop, but nobody has his time on field stats. We do have good forwards in develoment, but not Props of this calibre. Very sad situation for the club and fans.

Definitely a major bummer that AFB is wanting out due to "compassionate" reasons. Me thinks a tempting bag of cash and other benefits have been wafted under his nose. Contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on these days.
