Surfing (Paris 2024)

Been a while since I've been to Paris but the times I've been Seine-side the waves were about 5cm. Gonna be a pretty dull event 😜.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I missed a few.

BMX

3x3 Basketball (after all White Men Can't Jump - a Woody Harrelson film for those who don't get it)

Equestrian (only because it's horrendously expensive to stage and for the competitors to transport the horses)

Only sport with no humans giving scores should count.

Lisa Carrington, what an absoloute legend!!

She looked spent in that last race though, I am glad it's over for her, she deserves a rest, what an incredible champion, with an incredible workload.

She's the supreme professional. None of this 'my heads not in the right place' or I'm carrying an injury'. She just turns up and delivers every time.

Magnificent.

and one that should be and has been rejected multiple times

Squash

It escapes me how it's possible Squash has been rejected again. I mean, rock climbing and break dancing? Squash had some of the highest ratings of any sport at the commonwealth games.

No money in it and requires specialist facilities.

I feel if a sport already has its own big competitions with a good following it doesn't really fit with the Olympics. I am thinking Golf, Tennis, etc. The soccer was interesting because they have special eligibility rules for the players.

If Red Bull, FiveTen (an Adidas offshoot) and Powerade are involved heavily (which they are, in both sports), then a LOT of money....I mean a TON.

The debate over what is and what isn't an Olympic sport will continue on into eternity. The fact is we are going to continue to see new and different sports added each time it is held, and some removed.
