Adamal: Even the acutual wheelbase of the cars has to be modified from the road going versions.

What it boils down to is that its Ford or Holden due to brand or driver loyalty.

It's a laugh to see people actually think their car has much of a resemblance to the race car they see on TV.  I guess the company badge on the front is similar.

Personally I kinda wished we lived in an era when this race was open to other makes/brands/models.  It's a mean as track and a great event.  If you've driven the track you'll know it's quite a bit steeper than it looks on TV.  I'm looking forward to the race, and looking out for another skippy the kangaroo incident.

Optus D2 - 152Deg From memroy.

Need to move dish slightly, or get a larger one with 3 LNB head. D1 (sky/freeview) is at 160deg

Keep an eye on here http://www.vetrun.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8003&page=64

They list the test feeds leading up to said event.

If we are real lucky they pipe a feed to D1 also, as a backup.

Quick check, is the standard SKY 65cm(?) dish suitable for D2 reception?
(And I guess are these feeds Ku or C band?

I can now redirect the existing SKY dish away from D1 if need be, as I have freeview reception via terrestrial now.  D2 sounds like the way to go for feeds so would like to know a bit more about it.

Cheers.

Different LNB skew/angle too. (Varies depending on new sky dual-trhoat or single Samsungs)

Different tilt, and pointing differently :)

http://www.dishpointer.com/

Chuck your creds in there. It shows you a rough estimate on GE where to point it if you have no compass. And the angle the LNB needs.

And keep your eye on the D2 threads.

They post there when theres test feeds up to help you tune. Some of them are even in 4:4:2 HD.

I hope its not in 4:2:2, my boxes can't pick up that feed! :(

My flatmate is going over with a group called SPUD Racing (www.spudracing.co.nz) which you could call a boys club, I will hang my head in shame if I see them on TV...those darn blue wigs

Good write up...

If you have a multi LNB holder, the angle is not flat (to do with the Clarke Belt), which supports your skew theory.  Skew is 10x easier to sort out than alignment though.

Also check out this thread, which is the dedicated V8 Supercars thread
