Yes Lewis has issues, so did Rosberg. I should have copied a list of his issues that costs points that was on some other website. He was the leader of issues last year.

I can't see Vettel TBH, he seems to have made himself a Ferrari man now, that's my only reasoning. Alonso seems perfect. Best driver arguably, two year contract, for Merc to arrange getting Max maybe.

I wasn't going to make a big deal of the reliability issues... that stuff is just a part of the sport. Yes, Nico had more issues last year, but the title race wasn't even close. (and it was only ever a mathematical possibility in '14 thanks to the crazy double points scheme in Abu Dhabi). This year, it's getting more attention than it normally would for two reasons IMO. 1) It was unusually one-sided. 2) Title race was so close that any one of at least 5 distinct failures "not happening" would have given a different outcome.

Alonso is a very good option - we shall see :-) In some ways, it would be nice to see Merc reward it's test driver or another up-and-comer with the seat, but that wouldn't give us all the spectacle that we want with two top-tier drivers going head-to-head...

Interesting... I also head that someone asked Toto which drivers had been on the phone calling about the vacancy. His response, "All of them - except Kvyatt and Raikkonen."

Edited: I just read the interview transcript. Wolff actually said, "...except Kvyatt and Raikkonen, but I think that's only because they don't have my number!" :-D

I read that half the grid called him. Also that Lauda and the team are angry. havent read the better then Rosberg comment, although havent looked last 24 hours. He seems miffed, Toto seems to want to take a while to arrange a driver. Thats in the news, the truth is "what we may read in a book in the future" :-)

I hear that. Ill try to find the article, it was actually a comments post on an overseas website re Rosbergs points losses this year. But as you say it happens. Historically, so many races to the title have been managed. Schummy, Vettel vs Webber. I saw that with these two the first two years. They were even on track position, then the alternate strategy left Rosberg many many seconds behind. Too often to ignore IMO. But at the end of the day we cant adjust bad luck races, but IMO he is as quick as Lewis, what he lacked was do or die racing, which I felt he learnt from last year

On to more pressing news. I'd also like Ocon or Wehrlein in. Alternate? Choose one and if he doesnt deliver, the other is in? But all that isnt the best aim for the best chance to be 1-2 every race, which is their key goal. Max. He is well know to punch Toro Rosso above its weight, but not good enough to start in RBR this year, Kvyat is a better option. Since they dumped Kvyat, Max has appeared to grow another leg, although in fact he was always that good, but insulated by his lesser car. Could be that its worth a punt on Ocon or Wehrlein given all that?

Must be catching, now John Key has retired. Stepping down actually. Same with Italian PM, and South Korea leader is on the same path

I read the Niki Lauda comments, he really is miffed. I can get that, but he couldn't expect Rosberg to open up or hint, otherwise he would be given the F1 equivalent of losing the key to the executive toilet. Bit its good for the sport, some new blood can show their wares, either in Merc or elsewhere

No, wow. I see Toto is linked to his management team. Williams can do with buyout money? Ive been disappointed with him this year, but a one year, lets talk after that deal???

Now makes a lot of sense, cheers for that. He can hardly post that pic without there being something behind it. OTOH a bit naughty if its in negotiations and he posts that.
