I am quite interested in the paddock intrigue regarding the 2026 engine regs. It seems like there are teams with serious concerns about power delivery on long straights.

Yeah it seems nuts that they'll have to "clip" on long straights. The easy answer would have been to allow regen from the front brakes, however it may have been too difficult to prevent anyone feeding that power back in, IE 4WD.

Yeah I've heard similar stories, that all captured battery deployment is used by halfway I think it was of a main straight, leaving the car with less power than a less complicated GP2 series engine.  Alonso was right about his GP2 engine after all!

There seems to be much more fan interested in less complicated V10 ICE only systems using biofuel to tick the sustainability box.

Jeddah race was interesting...

With hindsight, Max should've kept the penalty to the end...since there's no way Oscar could close the 5 seconds as the McLaren was so badly affected with the dirty air and RB seems to have the speed...guess it's a loophole to be exploited next year

Great race by Charles... unnecessary "blocking" by Lewis on Lando, no wonder Max has beef with him

Sad to see Liam getting the penalty...does he have beef with the stewards? Seems like getting a lot of unnecessary issues with them every week!

That's a bit of an odd thing to say... They where racing for position and Lando was being dumb.  He should have used the first DRS zone to get behind Lewis and then the second, longer DRS zone to do the overtake.. it was a rookie mistake he made two times until his race engineer coached him!

you don't understand. you are not allowed to touch the car for 5s. if you touch the car at 4.99s you get another penalty plus the outstanding 5s.

so every time he pits he's going to get more penalties piled on.

Piastri looked good this weekend, now 16 points ahead of Norris and 32 points ahead of Max. I was impressed with Antonelli can see why Mercedes have given the young man a chance. Feels like a changing of the guard, Hamilton and Alonso must really feel like the old men of the paddock. Even Verstappen can feel the heat coming from several guys significantly younger than him.

Lawson must be worried by now, regardless of whos at fault, if you cant finish and finish in the points then your days are numbered, rumors flying around that Hauger or Lindblad are waiting in the wings.

Hajar has also impressed, he seems consistently quick in and out of the points, Lawson should be beating him but he really isn't. Being French will also peak the interests of Alpine no doubt.

Great weekend for Piastri and McLaren. Will be interesting to see if the front wing TD has any impact whatsoever when it eventually comes in but the papaya team are looking unbeatable for both titles at this stage.

Another poor weekend for Lawson, his racecraft is getting worse if anything. He really doesn't do himself any favours by jumping on the radio and indicating he has no idea what happened after cutting across Doohan on T1, having run alongside Doohan off the start line. He must have surely realised that Doohan was there and unlikely to yield, requiring Lawson to leave him room going around that turn.

After his effort the previous day in turning a points-scoring position into yet another penalty and another point added to his superlicience, Red Bull have to be wondering if it's time to consider the alternatives. Meanwhile, Hadjar is making every post a winner. Really wanted to see Lawson succeed at F1, it's so disappointing to see the way he is tracking.

Agree with both of you.

It will be a processional series with McLaren, but we will have two of them going toe to toe, which will be a great watch.

Lando still way downbeat.

Liam keeps drifting away.

Max did well with what he had.

Antonelli, yes, give him a few races and he will be beating George most races for sure

Williams are going sensational from what was the back of the back team on the grid

Yuki got points, still being a Perez. McLaren were 37 seconds ahead of the 3rd place getter, Yuki was about 35 seconds behind Max, 'nuff said.

Both Ferrari drivers were upset about poorly executed strategy, chiefly how long it took, then it was too late. Vasseur said it was executed very well....

Yep, and invariably the 5 second penalty ends up 6.5 to 7.5 seconds, always works out that way

Mclaren are clearly faster than the rest. However, I wonder if the flexi wing clampdown from Barcelona (?) onwards will result in a totally different pecking order?

Lawson really impressed with his speed in the sprint - but he doesn't seem to know when to coast and just bank a points finish... see the 'pass' on Alonso.

The main race, the ultimate reason behind the crash was simple, he didn't qualify far up enough in the standings. If he's not in Q3, he'll have run-ins with other struggling drivers. While I see the crash as being a 50/50 racing incident, there's one thing you can guarantee from Lawson, and that is that he won't give up a pass or an opportunity to hold onto a place on the racetrack.

Hadjar didn't impress me whatsoever this weekend... but at least his car came in without damage and his license remained intact. However if he stops getting points then it will be interesting to watch where his temperament ends up

Honest assessment of Liam is the way he's driving would suit closed wheeled series like Nascar or maybe Indycar better.
F1 he cars are not as tolerable as say nascar or supercars where you can bump into people without significant consequence and muscle your way through the pack.

He's taking that whole Senna quote of going for a gap way too much and it's a driving approach that is only successful if others comply and get out of your way.
It feels like a situation when he's been really good at something and beat the average people around him in the past, but when you hit the big leagues you run into a bunch of other people just as talented or more talented and it's like another world where the previous methods of passing aren't working.

F1 is very much about precision and we're seeing multiple clumsy attempts at passes that damage either his car or another car, and/or leads to penalties from an incomplete passing maneuver incident where he's deemed to be at fault or has run over the line in completing it etc.

Yeah this will be one to watch.

I still think Lando is faster, but he just has not been consistent enough or aggressive enough to hold his track position so far this year.

Oscar really has put in some solid showings so far and rightfully leads the championship table.
In the past Lando has come back with more mental focus but he'll really need to draw on that soon to reign in Oscar.

Was secretly hoping the rain would come and spice up the main race, but it was quite interesting for the first half or so before it all just settled down a bit.
Williams though, what a turnaround from them.

Ferrari just slow.
