What do they say about a fool and his money ...?

Saw this on Ali and, in the absence of Red Bull 2025 merch yet, thought I'd better have one. Hopefully Lawson will be able to deliver a few of these this season.

Jaxson: Netflix announce release date for Drive to Survive Season 7

Season 7 to be released on March 7

ARE WE THERE YET?! The off-season sure is dragging now, can't wait for things to get started again. I guess this announcement signals we are getting closer, typically interesting movie-style graphic with Verstappen looking at the McLaren and Ferrari coming for him. About sums up the competitive side of last season.

I see there has been an announcement from Red Bull on Lawson's race engineer recently, being Checo's former "Performance Engineer" Richard Wood. Apparently Hugh Bird has been moved onto something else in a reshuffle of staff around the team. Hope this will work for Lawson and they form a strong partnership. There seems to be little doubt from everyone that Lawson's campaign this season will be first and foremost about supporting Verstappen's title bid in whatever way is deemed necessary. So I expect the Kiwi will be getting the rough end of the stick in race situations on many occasions. We'll see.

Just a reminder to everyone who's subscribed to F1TV on the cheaper deal that your membership should be coming up for renewal very soon. I checked mine this morning and it expires/renews on the 24th Feb. I paid $84.99 and it renews at $99.99 on that date if I don't get into some shenanigans to save fifteen dollars again this year.

I'm interested to see what the rate is/will be this season if you are a new subscriber. Wondering if having a NZ driver on the grid affects the price in a negative way.

Speaking of Lawson, Red Bull appear to have released their 2025 merchandise in the last couple of days. Disappointingly there has only been generic team kit at this point, along with a few Verstappen-specific items available and on pre-order. Those feature the Alpha Tauri logo with Max picking up a sponsorship deal with them recently.

Not sure what this says in regards Lawson. Did his late-ish announcement for this season mean they didn't have enough time to get merch made with his name and number on, do they not expect him to last long enough at the team to warrant specific items, do they not expect enough sales to warrant the expense of producing specific items?

Early days yet so I guess it could still be coming but it's a little disappointing nonetheless. The Aussie GP is not that far away now and I'd imagine there'll be a fair contingent of Kiwi's there wanting to show their support for Lawson with team hats and shirts bearing his name. I hope Red Bull come to the party before then, if Lawson plays a blinder on that first weekend and really surprises/impresses they could miss the chance to capitalize on kit sales.

McLaren first 2025 car to break cover: https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/what-we-learned-f1-2025-first-car-launch-mclaren/

I get more and more impressed with Andrea Stella's team principal-ship every time he says something.

Here's to an awesome 2025!

Yeah, McLaren seem to be making all the right moves, their engineering team are on a roll and they do seem to have the magic touch with translating design ideas into a fast car on track at the moment. Not sure what Zac Brown adds to race weekends. I sometimes feel like Stella doesn't get his due with Brown often hogging the limelight. Maybe Brown runs interference on media duties allowing Stella to concentrate on keeping his finger on the pulse within the trackside operations.

But sometimes I feel Brown's best position would be behind a desk at Woking and to let Stella get on with it without feeling the American's shadow everywhere.

Does anyone have a line on the 2025 Launch event at the O2 yet? Haven't seen anything about it being broadcast on F1TV so far, I hope it will be viewable here by some means.

Great updates team.

McLaren, yeah I suspect the Zac thing may be calculated to run interference.  As a manager that's totally how I run things to protect my team, but will elevate for recognition where required.

I have high hopes for McLaren this year.

4 teams, end of the regulations, culminating in a cracker season.  We may see the lower scoring teams disappear later as they swing their development efforts to the next regulations.

F1TV, yes please keep us all in the loop as that progresses.
I'm a first time subscriber but will definitely be going back for more.

What's the game plan for discounts?  New email address presumably?
Will judgement call if it's worth the hassle later.

Fair to say I'm honestly excited about prospects this year, and we seem a long way from the dreadful processional rubbish from years ago with one clear leading team and constant tyre and fuel saving after the first 3 laps of racing.

There's a DTS interview with Zac (I think? Maybe Beyond the Grid?) where he talks about his role with Andreas Seidl. He runs McLaren Racing not McLaren F1 and so isn't at every GP anyway (he goes to Indy, FE, Le Mans and other things) and he freely admitted he would not know how to run an F1 team day to day. He finds the right people and let's them get on with things.

He is really really good and landing commercial deals and sponsorships though. Way more sponsors on the car now than when he took over. And he is busily sticking Mastercard logos on things as we speak...

My F1 TV subscription just auto renewed at $99

I hadn’t cancelled so understandable, and would need to do that prior to 16th Feb 2026 to avoid.

I’m ok with this.

Will be interesting to see if the email account i didn't use last year is eligible for a discount.

Even at $99 is excellent value for money, more so we have a Louis Sharp in F3 too.

24 F1 Races = $4.12 per race weekend @$99

This only drops to $3.54 per race @$85 saving of 0.58 cents.

There is a lot more value than just the race. Appreciate many wont be interested in any of the extra commentary and features. There is a lot of analysis that appears in the days following a race. Along with a huge amount of back catalog.

Completely agree, watching races form the 80/90's when i was kid brings back some cool memories. I probably watch 50% of the weekend warm up show. Also the practice session highlights condensed down to 10mins is awesome.

Yeah their condensed overviews are what make it for me.

I used to watch the free 10 min summaries on youtube but they were too rushed.

Now I either watch the race live, or sit down for the 30 min summary.

Even at $99, F1TV is easily the best value service I subscribe to. It's jam-packed with more content than you can ever hope to get through if you're a motorsport fan.

About my only quibble with it would be that they don't provide some of the content they make available on FTA via YouTube. Things like the Driver's Parade and Grid The Grid for example. It would be nice if those were also on F1TV so it's all in one place for the tragics like myself who like to look at everything.

A nit-picky point I know. It really is a great app though if you like open-wheeler racing.
