NZtechfreak: Yep, I've loved the games this weekend - Japan Vs France was awesome. I just wish one of the near-upsets had eventuated!

Been great for the minnow teams who have been really competitive! Argentina could have easily won the game against the Poms. The ref totally sucked in that game.

I have to laught at the people complaining about the terrible train service.
There was plenty of warning about big crowd numbers expected and to travel early.
I mean I'm in Whangarei and there have been the big orange signs on the side of the road for a couple of weeks warning about traveling early if you are going to a RWC game.

Then add to that the actual number of people that went to the waterfrong in Auckland was about 200,000 they said.
I do feel sorry for those that got stuck on the train with no communication from a conductor or whoever, that was pretty slack. However if what the train company says is true and a lot of the problems were caused by people using the emergency buttons or letting off fire extinguishers then you can't blame them for that.

I left Whangarei around 12pm on Friday to travel to Auckland. Did a Freeview install on the way and got to Auckland around 3pm. Had a shower and got changed and then walked about 2kms to the Glen Eden train station.
Got on the train about 4:30pm and was at Britomart just after 5:30. Not sure what the normal travel time is for that run but that seemed pretty good to me. There was about a 5-10 minute wait just near Vector Arena as I think there was no free platform for our train inside Britomart.
We then made our way through the crowd to the Wynyard Quarter as we had tickets to the HP/Intel Winter Garden.
Great night!
We made our way home on the bus and the only trouble we had was trying to find out where exactly to catch a bus that was going west. The bus wasn't very full at all either.

It was pretty darn close between Argentina / England, in some respects they were pretty lucky! I don't feel so bad about the AB's, these minnow teams have come here with every intention to win!

Is it possible to record or play a specific game with iSky? Some of these little games I'd prefer to watch in my office, but our sky is in the main room with the projector.

I prefer to consider myself realistic rather than negative.

Perhaps you should try getting into it and taking advantage of the great atmosphere and fun that lots of us that are being sucked in are enjoying!

That's what I go to the Trentham races and the Mission Estate for. I very much doubt that a game of thugby could beat the atmosphere at those events.

It's a once in a lifetime event. I certainly don't appreciate being referred to as dumbed down and sucked in because I love Rugby.

So, do you play rugby? If so then good on you (and I mean that quite seriously). However if you just sit in front of the TV yelling and drinking beer and you've never handled a rugby ball in your life then my 'dumbed down and sucked in' comment still stands.

I have played rugby. Based on your comments, no-one can enjoy being a spectator for any event they haven't personally been involved in? If so you must have an incredibly small number of things in your life you enjoy compared to the number of things that exist to enjoy.

The fact you called it "thugby", really makes this entire discussion pointless with you, since it's obvious you aren't open to reasonable discussion. I won't waste my time. I suspect in reality you are trolling.

Calling the game thugby.. welllll you could say the same about going to the Trentham races and enjoying the races and being blind to the fact that some horses are mistreated/misfed/abused at the stables and fed steroids which are subsequently masked with other drugs to avoid detection.. but as long as you've had a fun day at the races.. eh no probs aye :-)

So lets all agree on this.. some like the RWC and some don't. I love my rugby (played it too and also alongside some players who became all blacks) , but also enjoy watching sports like the skiing and javelin and all sorts of things.. never played or participated in them at all, but i can certainly enjoy the skill associated with them and admire them with a good beer too! I have no qualms in admitting that!

The RWC isnt going to please everyone.

Well based on what you have said, you haven't even been to a live game of Rugby, but my family has a long history of horse racing, and I have been to Trentham, and I can assure you they are well and truly on par, and my preference is to watch rugby. Also I must be dumb and sucked in since I've never personally raced a horse, but I have yelled at the screen when a horse I have had an interest in has been racing.

Umm well.. if it scores votes, then you are obviously missing the point that people want it here and they want the govt spending the money on it. If it was a big problem for the country then people wouldn't vote for politicians that agreed to financial packages for sporting events. Clearly you are outvoted!

I couldn't agree more. Forget about the transport shambles and be PROUD for what NZ has done! Christ, why the hell as a nation, are so many people such knockers of our own accomplishments?
