floydbloke:

Flat track and all that but the Caps' bowling is a bit sh*t to be honest.

I agree. SL batted well to a target they would never achieve. Lost by 45 runs. Neesham scored 47 in 2 overs, so that shows we were not dominant at all, especially as SL isn't a good side. Maybe ODI is better than the poor test side, but we werent convincing.

fantastic effort by Sri Lanka. A bit more than the 300 I gave them credit to score. I think if Matthews wasnt injured again we could have had an even closer comp on our hands. JUst shows we need batting depth and need 300+ on this pitch minimum.

Really enjoyed Hesson in the commentary box, Guptil first game back since Eng scores a big one, Neesham proves handy with ball and bat, Taylor was aggressive. For me only changes Id make would possibly be Matt Henry but hes got a good avg, but I want to see Lockie play more so Id sacrafice Henry for Southee back in, and Latham to keeper, but Seifert gets 2 more goes at least, see what it turns up.

Sodhi best of the bowlers with the 2 biggest wickets and I think the best economy off 10.

Lots to chew on from just one trial, bring on game 2. Will be interesting to see if someone performs well on all 3 games like Neesham if they will play them in the Ind ODI tour.

Id like to see SL bat first today to test us. But I feel that first game score from them is about their 10/10 ability.

Seifert has a brilliant First Class record, he really needs to convert his opportunities. He was unlucky the first game. Him and Munro need to get some runs on the board to have any chance of making the WC squad. Latham will keep, but they will want a back up, but they need to know Seifert can score in between his good t20 ability and his better first class ability. If anything going by his first class he should be considered for tests, but oddly hes seen as a t20 player.

Wasnt happy with Matt Henry first test. Yet Southee gets call up to rest Boult, and Bracewell is listed. BLAH!

Kane Williamson (C), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee.

Seifert was all at sea the other day, he wasn't unlucky, he seemed out of his depth. TAB has NZ raging favourites. SL seems to bat well down, and assuming we don't have a 140 player, and a player that bats 47 in 2 overs, the 45 run win was closer than it looks. Enjoy the game I've got things to do outside.

I see your point, but keep in mind that was as good an effort you are going to see from Sri Lanka. Anything 300+ we can defend but will need to change our bowling and fielding. I personally think outside Ferguson and Sodhi we bowled absolute rubbish just thinking 370 is too much scoreboard pressure, it nearly backfired.

This is going to be an interesting game. If SL tidy up their fielding, they totally have the batting to beat us. I wouldn't have us as raging favourites IMO.

I agree
1-22 now 1-25 so TAB says it’s a cinch. SL were $4 now $3-50 that’s a good price. Black Caps can panic at any time, RR slows to a crawl. It’s a 50/50 game for me. SL had good later batsmen that were out cheap chasing runs. 50/50. There will be no ton or huge over this game

Lovely run out by Taylor there haha, hes been involved in some beauties as he never calls loudly or quickly. Brilliant innings by Munro, would likely have gone on to be a big ton given how in he was on a batting pitch.

I think SL definitely have a chance, but they have to get us out sub 290. 290 is defendable if you bowl well, along with Sri lanka probably cant repeat 10/10 in their batting 2 games in a row, but, they have a chance if they can get us out below 300.

Its definitely a 300 pitch but the ball is holding up now and then. I think NZ will bat to well into the 40+ over before launching this time. Wasp saying 310+ for NZ, but that can go up or down very easily. I think they will get  about that though if Taylor sticks around.

Im not a big fan of the bowling line up and Bracewell wasnt even selected. Throw him in there and we could have been in more trouble.

That wasp graph looks like the Auck property market passed decade and likely the next decade lol, ie sharp spike then plateau for long period.

Neesham needs to be more sensible with this innings, Im sure he is aware and so far hes hitting the boundary when available and rotating strike when not.

I really like Neesham. He is clearly ready for the big stage . Nothing to do with his bigoted last game, he is a class batsman and looks it

3 major innings run outs and we still score 300 lol. So far Munro was the best, but if Neesham can pick up 2 wickets off genuine good balls, id say he will be MOTM.

320 is 40 too much for SL imo, unless they have another blinder. If their top order fails they dont have a chance.

???
What did SL get here today so days ago? We didn’t get to 370 as we had no 140 or 47 off two overs.

No idea how you now rate SL at 280. They scored well over that taking risks
