Hmm, Ferrari lockout, and that's genuine. Double whammy for Mercedes as when they are not in front and with clean air they are very average
the gods of time are not liking alonso.
Honda P5!
Meanwhile McLaren ...

RBR switch to Honda next year don't they? Toro Rosso is 6 and 11 which is much better than Melbourne and they are running the Honda's.
Enjoyable race. Pity about RBR. I thought Bottas was all in 5 or 7 laps out, needed Danny Ric to sub the closing laps
While Melbourne is never representative of the series, Bahrain gave a glimpse for quali and race pace of Ferrari vs Mercedes, the gap is close, with Merc still having an edge, but it seems a thin edge
If you watch the Sky commentators, then you can call the Merc team Mercedes - Sky F1 team. "Common Valtteri, you can do it [overtake Vettel]". Basically the whole time it was either Crofty yelling in your ears with his high pitched noise or the 2 of them cheering every car ahead of Hamilton/Merc that retires or has an issue.

I noticed that, yeah.

I agree. I normally decide by race 4 if I will bother following the season properly. This looks good but I wish the Redbull's were more competitive. There needs to be more than two teams battling for the championship, although I'll take two teams over one!
Disappointed for Hartley, he seems to have made some silly mistakes so far which has really cost him. Hope he does better in China.
I didn't quite follow why Raikkonen retired? Did the wheel not coming off mean there was a more serious issue or did running over the mechanic damage the car?
RBs ARE competitive ... just can't finish their races! (Like Kimi actually)

You cant drive when 3 wheels are one compound and one wheel is a different compound, and while he could have backed up (not sure if legal as you cant go backwards in pitlane) the pits were busy with the injured guy, so that effectively ended his race
Batman: You can push the car backwards in pits if it hadn't crossed the pit lane exit line. But i think when you will rejoin in last it's better to save the engine. Not too mention the guy is stuck there and you can't use your own pit.
Thanks, wasnt sure if it was pit exit or something more stringent.

THere is a line. Not sure what that line is called. I just called it pit exit but it is probably not called that. Beyond that line you cannot push it backwards. And yes no engaging reverse gear in pit lane.
Looks to be an interesting race. Mercs turned the engine mode upon Quali 2, then ran up excess laps on them. Strange. They would surly have died that Quali 3, but were nowhere.
Weather looks to be 19C to 21C for the race, and sunny.
Tyres, temps, still a bit hard to know. Ferrari look to be far more solid and stable there.
