I saw the interview with Smith at the aiport and he was asked hand on heart if this was the only time this had occured and he said it absolutely was... Not so sure

They did shut it down quick. I do wonder if it may actually be a deeper conspiracy. Wouldnt put it passed Lehman to come up with it.

The scepticist in me thinks that there is soft evedeince that this is not the first time.  The action taken by CA was fast - to shut this down, before all hell broke loose with more and more examples.  Now that it has been dealt with, people dont feel the need to go back and look at the last season, or before that even.  Why do I believe this?  Because they lied once they were caught and admitted it, Bancroft sugested it was tape from inside the uniform.  Cant believe a word coming out of the three of their mouths.

Im not sure the CA action was fast. They got a weeks ban, all hell broke loose THEN they stepped in

They cheated. They lied at their first press conference. I reckon they lied at their respective second press conferences when they said  that this was the only incidence.

They are genuinely remorseful, remorseful they got caught.

Coach lied too (IMHO).

I don't think it will end with these three players, let's see.

I feel sorry for Warner, his wife is obsessed with herself. Maybe if she didn't do the interviews, she would have time to "be there" for her Husband.

Vapid.

That would be hard if you were there child, 2 peas in a pod. Warner is very self obsessed and arrogant.

I agree re they are more remorseful they got caught than for what they have done. Not being churlish. If you look at Smiths arrogance in his first statement stating he wont stand down because his team needs him. Then to turn around and be gutted, yeah gutted your career is smeared and you got caught.

Warner probably doesnt care much outside it impacts his income, I dont think hes the kind of personality that cares at all what people think of him.

You know, it's an interesting thing. In my youth I used to speed a lot in my car. No-one could tell me I wasn't a safe driver in a decent car and it went in one ear and out the other. I got caught doing well over the speed limit (lost my license instantly). It was like someone had flipped a switch in my brain and I pretty much instantly understood the consequences not only of my actions, but the risks I had put people including but not limited to myself. I believe it's easy to stand on the outside and criticize, but I do think it's possible to be genuinely sorry, even if the precursor of that, was the consequences of your actions.

I am not sure I believe it was the only case, but I would suggest they are genuinely sorry and I believe SS is sincere in his pain. When he talked about his dad and how disappointed he was, and then crumbled, I am sorry, you can't script it. He feels it.

The brain is an interesting thing, it is able to minimize consequences and stop you from properly assessing damage, in favour of something which will give you a good feeling.

I believe they will all be better for it, and Australian Cricket will be better for it in the long term.

Yes perhaps his sincerity is genuine now. It certainly wasnt initially. Perhaps it took public response and shame to make him realise how bad it is.

As for it being a one off, I agree, I highly dealt they got caught the very first time.

Its a bit like the Melb Storm, it took years to find out they were cheating, including a few premierships. Now there name is tarnished and people still always wonder if they are on the level (which they clearly are given the players they have lost in the last season). I actually cant believe the level of players the Warriors have and how they could afford so many, given why didnt they do this years ago, the team has always had really average players in comparison to the talent they have now. But the one year the warriors knew they were over the cap they advised the NRL immediately so that gives me some faith its all ok.

Warner will just hide from the media, when you are stinking rich and have such a high self esteem i dont think something like this is going to really impact you, I expect Warner not being the captain also in his mind is shuffling the blame. His arrogance is up their with the best of aus, ponting was another classic, how does a squinty eyed midget get a wife with looks like that, money and share self esteem that hes worthy. Clearly women look for providers where men look for aesthetics, all part of the psychology of breeding etc. But still, hes punching 100x above his weight in that regard.

My point is, some personalities this level of shame just doesnt even dent their ego or self esteem. Where others with higher levels of morality it will genuinely embarrass and shame them and I think thats the point Smith has slowly gotten to. But that first press release, makes his shame now look so much worse. Oh we cheated and it was my idea but i wont step down because my team needs me. I mean thats up there with some of the most self important ego personalities in history. So to fall from that to being sincere, if it is real, psychologically that would be extremely self worth shattering for SS.

You can't say stuff like this, it's rude and insulting.

You should know better.

I definitely think Warner had studied Smith's press conference long and hard and that's how he was able to pull off the perfect mimic - he even got Smith's sharp intake of breath before speaking off pat. I don't think we will see him on the field for Australia again, but maybe there's a second career in acting just around the corner. Neighbours still running?

Interesting how the three of them are now being recast as victims; they not. They prima donna premeditating cheats who got caught.

Smith and Bancroft need to take their medicine, do the time, stay out of the limelight, work hard, and maybe they will see a path back into the national team. Warner? Bye!

Aus basically already lost the 4th test barring a miracle bowling effort tomorrow.

What they really need is a couple of top class, classy honest batsman, that would keep them in games :-)

I was trying to be sarcastic, only sarcasm can come off with that level of jealous churlish ness.

I do apologise if it was offensive, my intent was quite the opposite.

What Id like to know is if this isnt a one off, how deep, or how many people and what levels knew about it. And Im wondering if thats why its been shut down so quickly with heads rolling in the team but not above.......
