Well done. Not easy to whack a ball size of a coin with a stick, into a hole a mile away. On command.

Been glued to olympics didn't realise ABs are playing AU

Handsomedan:

The Ten Most Strange Sports of the Olympics

the list includes:

  • Horse Long Jump
  • Horse High Jump
  • Plunge for distance
  • Pistol Duelling
  • Poodle Clipping

I have also seen other weird ones like Roquet (similar to croquet), Running deer shooting, live pigeon shooting and the Obstacle Swim.

I wish they'd bring back some of the oldies but goodies - tug of war, poetry, sculpture, and yes, town planning. The arts were only removed from the games in 1948.

There’s a petition doing the rounds to bring back Tug O War for Brisbane 2032.

Kipchogi retains the mens marathon title by over a minute.

I believe he's from the planet Krypton.

Quite a bit of contention over whether his was deliberate. Seemed to be, but then with a table of drinks not far ahead, seems an odd action to take.

It's not a good look either way, especially in contrast to some of the fantastic sportsmanship seen elsewhere.

As did everyone else in the field.

His 30-35km split was incredibly impressive and that's what sets him apart from other great long distance runners. Just as everyone was starting to hurt he went and put down a 14:28 split to break his competitors. From that point they were only racing for silver & bronze.

Just on 21kph average pace for the 2hrs normally. There is videos on youtube of people on massive treadmills trying to do that pace. If you have 7ft long legs, it might be achievable for mere mortals.

That is actually (quite a bit) faster than my wife can average on a bicycle. I am not being rude to her, just to provide some context.

It's about my average around the bike track here too for a short 30min sprint.

There's also shots of e-bikes tracking alongside the group. But this is comical

While on a training run a few years back I decided to go down a steepish hill as fast I possibly could. My hi-tech runners watch recorded it at 3min 30secs for about 50 metres.

I was lucky my legs didn't detach and fly off.

I just don't understand how runners like him manage 42 kms with every km at 3min pace and at the back end of the race sometimes put in a 2:30..

Of all the commentators I wonder how many have actually run a marathon and in those conditions?

I've run about 20 marathons and while I can keep putting one foot in front of the other, there have been times when I've been unable to muster the dexterity in my hands to tie my own shoelaces. Given how many DNF's and runners were taken away in wheelchairs I suspect the act was not intentional, just clumsiness caused by over exertion on a very hot and humid day.

The Aussies?

Surely it's the French? Or the Kayaking international governing body.
