Just read the announcement of this week's AB team. Is it just me or does Zac Guilford appear to be MIA? If you take out the injured, then after this Friday's game he will be the only member of the 30 man squad to remain either for a start or the bench. Are the 'Three Wise Men' (sic) admitting they should have chosen Hosea instead?

I have watched all or at least part of all the matches so far. The sport has been great. I hope the public enthusiasm continues right through to late October, especially since we have already paid for it (can we get compensation Mr Brown if we are disappointed by the result ;) ).

Good point, I think guilford should have got a start, I think he is in better form than gear so his selection is justified. And Kahui is a very good player, but I don't think they should move him to the wing over a specialist wing. When it comes to crunch games kahuis D is wasted on the wing and he doesn't have the speed of a proper wing.

nate: I'm keen to see how many people will trust public transport from here on in, especially with the announcements the Government has given Len Brown and his buddies the boot.

Is that the Government saying... "Whoose your daddy?"

They're taking a punt on doing this though:
- on one hand are they going to get a situation where they would have to deal with 200,000 people again?
I think, and hope, not.
- If they do...  really what can they do different... more Trains? (do they have more?) or can they stop people pulling the stop cords and walking on the tracks?
More buses??? From where to where if 200,000 folk all want to be in Party Central?
- IF 200,000 people want to party downtown, it's going to be pretty hard to stop them going there and maintain order...... All it takes is 1 or 2 idiots and we all know theres more than 1 or 2.....

Why would the final not have the same or even bigger crowds? The vast majority of people coming here that I personally know aren't arriving till the knockout rounds.

I presume there will be more fireworks and a closing ceremony.

The town is buzzing here in Whangarei already! People everywhere and the Tonga v Canada game doesn't start until 5pm!

I'm not a rugby fan (soccer for me) but the games so far have been excellent. The pick for me would be the Wales - South Africa game.

Ramboss: I have it, didn't even think of it :) (Like a lot of the apps I have which seem like a good idea to install and then I forget I have).

Re Guildford, they really need to play him in a game with SBW to see him at his best, as he's one of the few ABs that seem to have figured out how to run into the holes SBW creates.  I'm hoping that this is the last game we see Nonu at 2nd five - by all means play him outside SBW, but not instead of.  Any side that can tackle can shut Nonu down, as he's a one trick pony (albeit a good one on his day), and part of the reason why Wellington and Hurricane sides full of stars haven't won any silverware for a looooong time.

IMHO we've got the players but don't have the Team :-s

It's risky because if they can't pull it off, they've got no-one to blame but themselves.

I think they should've spread out the celebrations more, ie had the waterfront, maybe the Auckland domain, plus some other bigger areas.  Asking 200k people to one particular spot, that doesn't have the space let alone the public transport capabilities, is just asking for punishment.

Forgetting the trains for a minute, NZ was very lucky not to have had a Hillsborough style crush on Friday.

jonb: yup I was quite worried at one point. It was quite scary to be in a crowd like that. People were being so stupid, continuing to push toward the wharf when there was clearly no space up there.
