Started a new thread

Saw a bit of the interview, was quite funny. Parkers words were good. Joshua said he brings something extra, intelligence. As if Parker is a dummy. Then Joshua went on and on to explain his being dropped to the canvas a few times. I think AJ needs to review the mental strength he also said he will bring, as that isnt working yet

Busy thread this!

Is anyone here going to watch it live?

Everyone says AJ will win, so the questions are can Parker win? Can Parker make it a real fight, toe to toe even when AJ wins?

Ive watched a few fights that Sky is playing on popup. I just can't help feeling that AJ is overrated. This heavyweight era has no Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Klitchko. It rates as tier 2 from the real heavyweight periods. When AJ beat Breazeale, his wins never went past round 3. Brezeale was inexperienced and took it past that. Dillian Whyte rocked him, as as the commentators said he was 2 or 3 punches from his first loss. He was 50/1 on to beat Takam who got 12 days notice, and until the fight was stopped (and booed by the crowd) while he won every round, Takam was willing and able.

The Klitchko fight is hard to get much from. He is past it, and AJ was knocked down, was gassed, but to his credit he got the punch in

Parker is hard to judge, as he had an elbow issue, so with that fixed he must be better. Trained big time for this, so must be better. His chin is better. His stamina should be better.

Assuming AJ wins, I'd be disappointed if Parker was knocked out. I expect Parker to show him something big.

My guess is that it goes 12 rounds, AJ wins almost all, but they go toe to toe.

BUT, if Parker got a hit in and rocked him, he has to go in to end it. I've seen him do that, then wait.

I've ordered it and will settled down to watch it tomorrow morning.

I've been listening to a couple of podcasts from the BBC Radio Five about the fight and the prospects for either fighter. Not sure who I want to win.

The bookies are all backing AJ by a long way.

TAB: AJ 1.18  JP 4.50

B365: AJ 1.16 JP 5.50

Crownbet: AJ 1.17 JP 5.00

Paddypower: AJ 1.17 JP 5.50

888Sports: AJ 1.17 JP 5.50

Betsafe: AJ 1.20 JP 5.15

Betrally: AJ 1.16 JP 5.25

Bluebet: AJ 1.18 JP 4.75

At 1.18 that's about a 85% chance in favour of AJ.

Hmmmmm I think I've got too many betting accounts (and that's only about a third of them)

Yeah I have followed both AJ and JP over the last 2 years or so - and am well keen for this fight.

I would love JP to win, but AJ will be a serious challenge for him with his greater power, size and reach. That said AJ's movement is a bit one dimensional at times. And AJ's stamina has rarely been tested - but this is mostly due to his tendency to drop his opponents quickly!

JP has made progress - but his defence (dropped hands esp) have been a concern. Also while he has fast hands and can throw decent combos - his power isn't in the same league as AJ (Hopefully the elbow surgery has brought the power improvements his camp are claiming). And while JP hasn't been dropped in either his amateur or pro career - I don't believe he has fought anyone who hits as hard as AJ.

So yeah - I have a small wager on JP - this is a heart based bet - rather than a brain based one : )

Bring It!!!

They actually talk during weigh ins? Wow. Never heard a boxer give a press conference!

Just re watched Cojanu vs Parker. Im liking Parker. Cojanu is huge, he knows him, big weight advantage, big reach For Raz. . BUT, where is the KO? Lets hope the elbow and step up makes that step.

Win lose or draw, if JP leaves nothing on the table and loses, I'm ok with that

Yeah!! Im not a huge boxing fan,but its a heritage watch. Parochial yes, but... I feel AJ is over rated. He beat nobody in 3 rounds. Lowly Breazeale took him further, Whyte had it. He is not a god,as the media or whoever said. Is he fake, NO.

JP, yes, he needed KO's in his last few matches. Lets be one eyed and blame the elbow. But he has never been rocked (IIRC) AJ has, more than once or twice.... So there is the opportunity. Takam AJ was 50/1 on, that means, bet 50, win 1. It wasnt a KO, it was stopped. Takam was fighting. JP had the same issue, so is there a million miles between them?   No

AJ will win, give all the respectful compliments as per the press secretary, but he has far more chance than Tua. With that said Tua was so badly off, a 10 feet reach shortfall (slightly exaggerated lol)

What I expect. AJ dominant but not every round. Gies 12 rounds as JP wont go down or stop

What I hope. Toe to toe, both hurt, JP stays longer, AJ falls in the race to the end of stamina and taking a punch.

AJ to win. Sorry, but I just can't see Parker doing it. I wish I could but, they are worlds apart!

World not worlds!  Yeah a bit of bias there, but Ive evaluated a lot, its not Ali vs Leon Spinks. [hint]

And his brother beat Larry Holmes twice...

Maybe time for a good boxing story, but as long as he does well.

I learnt at the old Mangere gym where many know a few big names come from. Whilst my health couldnt see me do 10 seconds sparring, Im still behind parker. I know hes underdog by a big way. Im going to go with Parker against the odds.

Its exciting to watch big boys boxing again in the sport.
