With Bathurst being on this weekend, Sky has a pass for $14.99 which is a pretty good deal. It covers from the 10-13 Oct.

I bought the week pass (for $20) to give myself time to make sure the whole solution worked in my lounge and I encourage everyone to spend the extra $5 and do the same.

I had a chat with Sky's support and was basically told the only client that was good, reliable and got the top rendition was the browser client... I tested with an Nvidia shield using the built in CCU and it was rubbish (to be fair, SKy note that inbuilt CCs are not supported). Their support said non Ultra real CCs get 720p, and that the Samsung TV client is "improved but would recommend the browser".

Having resigned myself to dragging in a PC for the day, I tried Matt HUisman's Kodi plugin on my shield and extensively tested it last night. It's perfect at the top rendition of 1080p/50 at 8mbps.

TL;DR: give yourself enough time to test. Don't assume your first plan is going to work.

Cheers - N

ps. I guess since it's the 9th already, the 10-13 plan would be ok, but the point stands - test first :-)

OT. What are the Indycars chances?  Ive not watched Bathurst or Supercars for a while, got tired of Holden or Ford dominating at any period of time. But with Rossi in, more car brands, and rubbish weather I might go hard this year on it

I will be waiting until later this week before deciding. If teh weather looks like it's going to be good in Wellington I will skip Bathurst as I jut cannot sit inside on a nice day watching TV. If it looks like it is going to be unusually wet in Wellington  I will add Sky Sport to Vodafone TV and watch it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Dang it all, I just did too, for the same reasons. Ive got Sky. Last time I took a week pass, but not happy with the quality. It was like 1080/20   or 1080/30 with intermittent missing frames. ATV4

Be nice to drop Sky and use this, as my setup works nice with Spark Sport/RWC. The little linear regular TV I watch is FTA, have a Freeview recorder and TVNZ/ThreeOD

I am planning to just add Sky Sport to my satellite package to watch Bathurst, then downgrade again after it's over (I pay for the full month of sport at $31.99).

I have a question though - does Sky still charge extra for the HD access ticket, or have they ditched that? I found that last time I watched Bathurst, the picture was rubbish until I bought the HD ticket as well.

EDIT - I just found the press release stating the HD fee is no longer charged.

Not a bad price looking forward to Sunday on the couch the race starts later this year so will be later finish. Would love to see scotty win only a matter of time before he leaves for Nascar. I will be watching on kayo the super car build up has already begun with the driver interviews and insights at the mountain.

Kayo has excellent coverage of Supercars, F1, Moto GP, and all the minor racing series as well. For $25NZD per month plus $1 a month VPN its significantly better value than Sky NZ offerings.

Makes sense , I have a half brother in Nth QLD so I can use his cell number. Do they text it with a code? In which case Id need to tee up when he is free. Ill look at Kayo's offerings. Id need to set VPM on the ATV4? Then I have to tun it off or on each time I use another VOD

Its looking great actually, they must have improved it, Ive flicked thru a few sports all are fine, not the erratic smoothness I had last time, this is iPad1 9.7 and iPad Pro 12.9. Try ATV4 tonight

Had a quick look via work PC, looks good. Will wheel my PC into the lounge tonight to connect to the big screen.

Yeah she's sharp alright. Can't even compare it to SkyGo - this is on a whole different planet in regards to quality. Will have to wait until I'm at home with it on the TV to have a proper look. Just at a glance it doesn't seem quite as smooth with fast panning but that could well be this PC or screen doing something weird.

From past experience, slim to none.

They are in a WAU prepared car, and WAU cars have been mid pack, fringe of the 10 all year.

I suspect the winner will come from one of the big 4

- Redbull Holden Racing Team

- Shell V-Power Racing DJR Team Penske

- Erebus Penrite

- Tickford Racing

You need a Aussie cell number to receive a verification TXT to sign up for Kayo, and you can use a NZ credit card.

I'm using P.u.r.e.V.P.N on Andriod TV, it allows tunneling for specific apps, so you can just use VPN on Kayo and nothing else that way you don't have to turn VPN off or on depending on what your watching.

Better still get a beteasy account and you'll get the first 3 months of Kayo for free. looks like they still running the promotion.

https://beteasy.com.au/kayo

You only need to give beateasy your email address, nothing else.
