Geektastic: Air NZ can be quite restrictive about such things.
My wife has Gold status and has several complimentary upgrade vouchers. She can't use them for me even though we have a shared Airpoints account. Only Elite members can do that.
Do you need vouchers for such young children?

Regs: I've emailed the airpoints service centeres a few times in the past and had them successfully transfer vouchers to other people. as koru and then gold I had no use for them... make sure you email several days prior to any trips and include the persons airpoints number etc...

What do you mean by this? Doesn't quite make sense...
See my cynicism there. Leave it as that and interpret it however you wish :)
Oh but I did; I just wanted to give you a chance not to come across as a misopedist; as a parent I kinda get sick of anti-child comments coming from the childless/child-free. Just remember - who's going to be wiping your @#$ when you're old, senile and incontinent?!
Since we get sick of the noise and annoyance the kids cause, I suppose that makes us equal.....

How did you do this?
Everytime I've called up and asked for these vouchers to be moved to another person in my Shairpoints family (noting that I'm gold so have no need for these vouchers) I've been declined.

Never ceases to amaze me how many people were born as adults and didn't experience the wonders of childhood...

I have to say that I agree with @Geektastic. There are places for kids and there are places not so suited for kids. When I am in the Koru Club, I sometimes need to get some work done and I find kids running around to be very distracting. Not all parents let their kids do this but it only takes one child to cause an issue to fellow travellers. As I child I was never taken into such places.

Do you have kids of your own? I'm just interested in knowing whether the strongest opposition to this come from the child-free.
Surely the problem is more just inappropriate behaviour, and that can relate to anyone of any age? Someone earlier commented about teenagers getting into the piss and becoming annoying; similarly, I'm sure there are occasions where grown adults - heaven forbid - behave inappropriately in a Koru Lounge (talk loudly on the phone, play irritating music...).
I'd have no issue with people taking their kids in, provided they follow the expected behaviour in that environment (and, if they were my kids, they'd soon be removed if they didn't); I'd expect the same thing from all others.
Satch: No I don't have children but I do have experience in being a child. I sometimes still am. And I agree with your comment about unruly teenagers or adults too, but the frequency of this happening is much, much less in my experience. Unfortunately not all parents share your view thought.

Yeah, while we've all been children (and, like you, I'm still quite capable of being child-like!), I would suggest that not having kids of one's own does make the child-free adult far more easily irritated by (if not down-right intolerant of!) children. Being a parent build's up one's tolerance of the little blighters.
