My new Airpoints card arrived today... Same barcode as the Onesmart I never activated and my original non embosed Airpoints membership card I've been using to date!

So it's just a re-brand dropping flybuys. However oddly it does state its not in effect until the 17th and continue to use the old one. Go figure!

My wife's Air NZ card arrived this week. She never activated the credit card option so she received a standard AirPoints card. I activated and use my OneSmart card, and haven't received an updated card yet.

Same with my wife, as in her Airpoints card arrived today and she'd never activated OneSmart (that we can recall). No news on mine and I'd activated my OneSmart card but don't recall actually using it.

I expect that will be a result of needing to go via a Secure Merchant Card Vendor instead of a simple mag-stripped like the non Onesmart.

Right now we need apps that turn barcode and magnetic stripe cards into zeros and ones ... !

I received an email last week saying cards are starting to be sent but my card will take a bit longer as I'm an Elite member.

The new cards for my wife and kids arrived today. They all received the Jade coloured card. My wife is my nominated Elite Partner, so unsure why she received a Jade card.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

EP isn't really status per se - she is still Jade in terms of status but simply enjoys some Elite benefits while flying.

For some reason I have received two new cards, one has my number on it, one has a new? number. Assuming that the numbers are issued in order, then my new card is actually over 3million issues earlier.

Both arrived on the same day, my card was addressed to my name in lower case, this new card was addressed to my name in caps. As you can see the letters are slightly different, with my one mentioning OneSmart, while not being a OneSmart card. Has no chip/credit card number/cvv/etc etc.

The wife has not received her letter.

Yes got one of those yesterday.  I see my old chipped one  doesn't expire until March 2019.    Not sure why Air NZ has sent out a new one as the old one still has over 2 years to run..

Just checked my OnsSmart card, it does not expire until August 2019. But obviously has the FlyBuys logo on it, so I assume they want to distance themselves from them now.

They made too much profit and looking at ways to burn money?

I had already worked that one out with the non onesmarts being identical in every other way.

If some reasonably astute geeks like us are still wrapping heads around it, you can imagine how confusing come the 17th it would be for mere mortals and choosing which card at the particular retailers when both logos are present on the card AND the signage yet we know there is to be no backend interaction between the two now.

I can only but view this as an expensive rebrand job to try and prevent swaying customers to the wrong loyalty points they want to earn at the counter based on incorrect logo.

That is the end date of the Flybuys/Airpoints relationship. As others have mentioned tho, the barcode is the same on both the old and new cards, so cannot see any reason why you cannot start using the new card now.

People here received their new Airpoints card.  But what about the One Smart card?  They've already activated their cards in the past.
