tl;dr - human factors, boeing MCAS design, FAA certification of MAX palava (only suggested, didn't explain) all contributing
Yep TL:DR, Much.
All contributing factors, but don't forget inadequate training/poor cockpit procedures relating to the two crashes.
Almost every piece of machinery has some built in gocthas that are dealt with through proper training and use of proper use of Standard Operating Procedures and Abnormal Procedure checklists. Sadly in both accidents there was a lack of training and/or poor application of correct procedures. Both airlines need to be held to account for their failings in these areas.
